Im planning on telling my therapist about the mini crisis i had a couple days ago on suicide and life and death and all the fun things (made a thread about it that really helped me order my thoughts), but ive never done something like that.
atm im not suicidal, but i have a lot more emotions than im used to, and i dont want to come off as someone whos a danger to myself.
Ive never talked out loud about being, or having been, suicidal before.
Its really scary for me, but i want to hear their thoughts and how i can move forward from this and i dont know what i should and shouldnt say to not cause concern

I would start by stating your last sentence as a hypothetical question to your therapist.

In my experience, you'll be fine if you talk about suicidal ideation or past suicide attempts, just as long as you emphasize not having any current plans.

I completely agree with this. I've always been able to say anything about my life if I assure I'm not currently in danger ⚡

From my experience, therapists are trained to not show intense reactions to patients in order to not trigger them. So far with me that has been true. A good therapist should be the one listening and understanding so you don't have to feel the need to be worried about their concerns. With my therapist I can pretty much tell her anything about my suicidal tendencies and she won't force me to the 'funny farm' without my consent

Kit's good to hear that you're planning to talk to your therapist about the emotional rollercoaster you've been on lately. Let me tell you, being open and raw about your experiences can be scary, but it's a crucial step in your healing journey. Don't hold back. Lay it all out on the table, my friend. Talk about your recent crisis, the deep thoughts about life and death, and how it made you feel. Your therapist is there to listen and help you navigate through these tough emotions.

Now, here's the thing: you might be worried about sounding like a ticking time bomb. But guess what? Be honest about the fact that you're not currently suicidal. Emphasize that you're seeking guidance on how to process and move forward from these intense emotions. Your therapist will appreciate your openness and will work with you to develop strategies to cope with your feelings in a healthy way.

I agree with what others have said here. I think that it's ok to discuss suicidal thoughts with a therapist, but it's when you indicate that you actually have made a plan to act on these thoughts- that is when they send you to an institution.
I wish you luck, and hope that you find the help you're seeking.
