okay so ive been depressed/ suicidal ever since the age of 11. i did therapy for a bit when i was 15-16 but stopped because it felt stupid. ever since then i haven't tried to get any sort of help or anything like that thinking id just kill myself, but i haven't because i'm too pussy. so i figured i should try and get help again and try to actually live life. for a little at least, unless shit really just hits the fan, hopefully i'd have the courage by then.

but really , how does one go about getting support? like do i call a crisis line or something? do i call my regular doctor? im not sure. i've never done this before....but i would appreciate any sort of advice.

I can't really advise as I haven't saught help myself (need to be careful as in some countries.... and i don't mean to scare you... if you really divulge it all they may 'put you in a home'). That said, in the interim (that is till someone more informed can help you), you can call the crisis line (0 reprecussions and immediate assistance) if you feeling overwhelmed as talking/venting always helps. I hope someone better informed provides you with better details soon.

read the pinned posts in recovery

journal. Write there every your thought, why you may think that, what you want and why

Go to the psychologist. ask what do you do. DON'T tell you plan suicide unless you are ok with psych ward (good psych ward may actually help if you are ok with it). or go to psychiatrist. get meds, ask WHY you are getting these meds and their side effects.

Go to therapy. On therapy say every your thought aside from CURRENTLY and in near past planning suicide. Say why are you scared of therapy, You feel stupid and stuff

Read pinned postrs on Recovery for real. They are VERY helpful

How you get support depends entirely on location. Look up local resources. Talk to college or university resources if applicable. Hell, talk to your workplace counselors. If you don't have a job or student status, go find a counselor from a charity of some kind.

And if none of that applies, and you're underage? Please get off this site.

Depends on what kind of help you want. I'd recommend getting a psychiatrist first because it takes a while to find the meds that work for you. Just Google "psychiatrist that takes [insert your insurance here if you're american]" or "psychiatrist near me" if u live in a better country. I do online sessions (telehealth) because I'm a bit of an agoraphobe. When u get in there and they ask, "any thoughts of harming yourself or others," and "are you feeling suicidal" just always lie and say no. Not worth the risk + doesn't affect the process for finding the right meds.

Second, find a therapist. Depends on what's got you suicidal. I had a fucked up childhood, so I had to find a therapist that specialized in childhood trauma/cptsd. I found CPT and EMDR helped me. If you have a different reason for wanting to die, then google "what therapy is beneficial for people dealing with [insert issue here]." Find the kind of therapy that's reccomended and then search, "therapist that does [insert recommended therapy] and takes [insert your health insurance]." Of course, if you live in a non-facist country that isn't run by an oligarchy of rich cannibalistic pedophiles, then you don't need to worry about the health insurance bit. Same applies in therapy about suicidality. Never tell the truth. Therapist will say they have discretion and make up rules about when they will forcefully put u in a mental hospital. But they all lie. They'll lock u up real quick if you say you're suicidal, so just lie trust me.

Best of luck buddy. It's worth the investment. Life is actually so unliviable without medication, and the therapy helped while I was doing it.
