Even in sleep, I don't seem to get much of an escape. Very rarely do I ever dream (or at the very least remember them.) I've tried to increase my recall in the past but never to any avail so I always just gave up. Anybody else out there who basically never dreams? I'm envious of those who can and do, especially the lucid dreamers.

Everyone of my dreams are nightmares and I probably dream about 3 times out of the week.

I almost never dream. When I do have dreams, which is rare, I try to write them down in my journal so I don't forgot them.

I have no idea why I'm not dreaming more because I usually get at least 7 hours of sleep most of the time. It's really strange.

same~ :( Me dreaming, or as you said, remembering them (since apparently, the people who dream every night claim everyone else does too~ :p), is very rare as well~ >_< and well, when I do dream, it's always nightmares and almost never anything goofy or fun~ :< it sucks so much~ >_<

I can only remember the dream if I wake up in the middle of it and go back to sleep. If I sleep until morning, I never remember.

i dream basically every night and i always remember my dreams. they're so vivid that they feel real. i have my own thoughts in my dreams too. a few times i've been able to recognize i'm in a dream and control it. i've always been this way. i love it when i have nice dreams or dreams that are just a normal amount of weird but i get sleep paralysis sometimes and it's terrifying lol.

Almost all the time with lucidity, voted all the time with lucidity. I saw a big increase in remembering and lucidity of dreams after i did a dreams journal (write down what you remember of the dream, memory exercise) when i was younger. I had many lucid fever dreams as a kid too. I know many who do not dream or dream very rarely.

Lucidity comes and goes for me, as does dream recall.

I'm envious of those who can and do, especially the lucid dreamers.

Don't be too envious, most of my dreams are bad. I usually can't hold onto lucidity for very long. There are WAY more times when I wake up remembering all the times I almost became lucid and missed an opportunity. It's frustrating.

Have you tried herbs/nootropics? They can help, but it takes some experimentation.

Yeah, I've tried a couple to no avail, but not really that many really. Maybe I'll look into trying some substances again. Thanks.

I wonder why the number of non-dreamers here is so high? I'm one too, my dreams slowly tapered off into almost nothing since 2018. No dreams, no lucidity (that was rare to begin with) and no vividness if I do happen to dream. Not being able to dream is also a reoccurring discussion I see in severe mental illness circles. I remember that it's also a minor plot-point in the game "Bag of Milk". This should be studied.

Today I dreamt about a famous YouTuber and I asked him to buy my motorcycle. More than half of my existence has consisted of experiences that only came about because of my metacognition.

"Some of the time" sounds perfect for describing the frequency of my dreams. When it comes to their quality, though, it really varies...sometimes they are what I wish my life were; other times, they're more like hell

I miss good dreams. I used to dream quite a lot, good and bad, but now I seldom dream. I think it's the weed. Or maybe it's a good thing, cause now I think my mind could conjure up some pretty bad nightmares.

Edit: or maybe it's good not to have good dreams, cause that would make the real world go darker and darker.

Sometimes. Half the time they take place in weird mashup of video game worlds which are weird kind of fun to experience. Others can be nightmares mostly to do with school (even tho its been years since being there) tho i notice with recent nightmares i am taking more control of them and reacting aggressively to whats happening in them.

With the exception of today's dream, most dreams occur without even partial lucidity
Fully lucid dream!
960 26-01-15th 22:54:27 | EmptyBottle - Slept from around 12:20am to 7:00am, then after spending time with cat, slept until around 8:45am. Temp cool to warm with light clothes, window partly open (and fan usage in morning) and medium blanket, 23C, 22.5C, 22.5C. Logged fully lucid dream from 8:48am to 9:23am. | Logging short coding dream about seeing black quote on white text on square PC, possibly in an industrial building (which was all I remembered from a previous [7am] dream!) to grey lined notebook, then realised "Hang on, I'm writing my dream while dreaming" and attempted to get extra colours or rainbows to render in bedroom, but they were quite slight and green. Saw maybe stuffed toys on blue bed, then went to cupboard. I saw a light red blanket, maybe a white t shirt, and just below was a slightly thicker grey one (which was blue outside of dream). I looked for slight errors in synchronisation between touch and sight, finding them (folds were 1cm off and sometimes didn't match sight), tho thinking I was actually walking in my room and imagining what my room looks like with eyes closed for long enougu. A scene or 2 later in the same dream, got on top of a familiar white car, as it floated almost in sync with a white roofed wooden house, up to 3 levels high, before thought "this is getting too high". I managed to either change the height or make it come down carefully. | Later walked into red cinema with maybe 8x8 seats, tho mostly empty except for hired workers, like female with %b% dark hair sitting several rows and columns away, almost sitting on a blue towel to give to whoever asked or smth. | maybe see random small students playing out as I deeper brown wood waiting room. I sat on an non private white "seat" before later seeing a very short male wearing green, on a coloured puzzle floormat, playing with items. A woman in vivid pink was to the left supervising, and ahead were glass doors that we all were waiting to enter, with doctors entering them. %s said "3 minutes! there's [someone] waiting!", so I managed to change the scene by imagining walls which surrounded the seat and turned it into the more private home version. I wondered what was going on in the waiting area, assuming the other seat might have another user. Some time later, I see htop on a laptop kept aside (eg on top of stuff and behind me), probably approach it and manage to render minecraft in pink terminal text, but above the process list and near the CPU monitor. | mostly dark and empty (and inset) stage area with wooden surroundings renders from the fading dream, before I manage to draw (and redraw) with white string for memorising, even tho the scene fades with voices external to the dream... htop and some other words are vivid, assisting me with remembering the dream, before I finally decided to open eyes.

I almost never dream! It's a little odd, because without a dream I feel as like I didn't get enough sleep. No dreams make me feel like I am not well rested once I wake up.

Dreams are extremely rare for me and I've never been able to control them. Sometimes they're so sweet that I wish I wouldn't wake up, yet I end up forgetting most of them. On business days, I usually get around six hours of sleep, and on weekends, about four. It might seem like a precarious routine, but I've grown used to it.
