With this ctb method, is there a chance for arm / leg movement? Ive read of others concerns for this.
I thought about using a lounge chair and straps for the arms and legs....similar to what others have shown in their setups.
But didnt know if it was a major concern or not.

What about other issues, i.e. vomiting, etc. Should one probably refrain from drinking or eating anything several hours before?
Anyone interested in this method should pay attention to what I am about to say. Read these threads:

I am preparing my SCBA inert gas setup and waiting for delivery of a few items. It's basically a copy paste of GasMonkey's setup.
GasMonkey started heavy posting on the inert gas megathread at around page 62: https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/exit-bag-and-inert-gas-megathread.8393/page-62

He changed the nature of the megathread, what a hero. I strongly recommend to do heavy reading and dig deep from page 62 onward, and pay attention to what GasMonkey showed us. This method is best with SCBA/SCUBA or EEBD. According to him SCBA is the ultimate bus ticket.

In the near future, when my setup is ready, I might make a guide and provide detailed information about how to come up with SCBA setup.

Yes I had discussions with GasMonkey a few times, two years or more ago. At the time I wasn't aware of the method he planned to use.
Since that time I planned on using the same method. I now have my complete setup ready to go except for the chair and restraints.
I am just waiting to finish some personal tasks that I want to finish and finalizing my audio/written goodbyes to my family.
This is the part that is the hardest to do emotionally. Ive been avoiding it.

Yeah I remember reading you interacting with GasMonkey. Good thing you got your setup ready. I am in the process atm. I want to have it ready for when the time comes, maybe sooner than later. I hear you, the final moves before the event are hard and deep emotions/grief kicks in harder. Just take your time. Having the setup ready gives you the power to ctb more spontaneously, and you can delay or do whatever. At least we are prepared.

Yes I have a sense of relief knowing that I can end all this whenever the time is right. Im realizing that I can't fix anything and that I have made poor life choices that would make my life unbearable if I continued. I just hate that my family has to see all this afterwards. I want them to understand that its not their fault....actually they are more than loving and supportive to me. That is the hardest part knowing all this....I feel grief for them.

I do have to get a chair and restraints like GasMonkey shows in his set up.
His chair appears to be a zero gravity one and the restraints are buckle or hook/loop.
He has a strap for the upper chest, waist and legs. Then ones for each of the ankles and wrists.
Ive still got to acquire all this and set it all up.

I dont have a way of securing the cylinder to anything. I'll have to think about that.
I do know that there are wall mounted brackets and stands for cylinders.

Ive also got to look into how to keep a good seal around the mask to my face.
The masks are neoprene and manuf say to just wash with soap and water & dont use any lotions. Oh well.

From what I read there can be movement during agonal phase at the end but its minimal apparently.

I bought 3 chairs in the last 4 days.
Initially a cheap outdoor reclining (zero gravity type ) collapsible camping chair.
Tried to set it up with straps but I realised the mechanism that keeps it locked in position after unfolding from collapsed State is completely unreliable.

I then purchased a much more expensive one of the same type, same issue as the other!.

Then I decided to get a regular non-collapsible chair as there was much less risk this way.

Purchased a wooden Adirondack chair with slide out foot rest, much better!.
I think these camping chairs are an unnecessary risk in the set up,it can simply collapse/close on you since the lock on most of them are a weak plastic friction mechanism holding the chair open.
There are good ones but they cost $700 I think!.

I have wheelchair calf restraints, wheelchair upper body restraints as well as your regular cam buckle straps, rachet straps, luggage straps.
I'm not sure what to use yet.
Is there anyone doing a set up using EEBD currently?

can you post a picture of the chair you said was unreliable? Just want to make sure if is was the same as I was thinking about getting.

I was considering getting a wheelchair that reclines. There are some made with a high back & headrest.
Then having the ankle / wrist / body / head restraints. Seems that there are a variety of designs for these straps.

There are two ways to state how much gas is inside a cylinder. You can give the volume of how much water the tank's size could theoretically hold, or you can say how much of the specified gas is actually in there. The gas inside a cylinder is compresses at a pressure given in bar. 1 bar = the normal pressure of the air around us. A common pressure value is 200 bar, but you should obviously check what your cylinder specifically has.

For example: If your cylinder states it has 2.2L at 200 Bar you have to calculat: 2.2 x 200 = 440 L of actual gas inside it.

At 15 L/min 440L gives you 440 : 15 = 29 minutes of gas flow.
Thanks. Whenever I have a list of cylinders to buy, I'll post them here to know how many litres of gas there are inside.

I wonder if using a full face toxic gas mask would be a way to make this work. A bit more complicated though. You'd have to block in the input air filters, and add the insert gas hose for the input. The mask has a purge valve so your breath plus inert gas would be flushed as you breathe. It's a smaller chamber so less gas overall is needed, plus a tight seal means less chance of air getting into it.

Only SCBA, SCUBA and EEDB are recommended. This is the quickest peaceful method. Any other type of mask is not going to create a zero Co2 and zero oxigen environment and can be problematic.

SCBA is not constant flow. It works on demand, which means that only when you breath does the valve pump gas into the mask, and also, the latest SCBA systems work on Positive Pressure (PP), which makes things even more effective. At the same time, when you breath out the Co2 gets expelled out of the mask, this makes sure that you only get to breath nitrogen. These SCBA, SCUBA and EEDB setups are expensive and technical, and take weeks of research in this thread but the info is available.

It's the same type of chair that Gasmonkey,Vizy (possibly others) used.
Al though I dont know what quality their chairs were.
If it uses a friction lock(most do I think) its a little unnecessary risk when there are better not-collapsible options for cheaper I found.
Moving parts are never ideal in these kind of things.

BTW,I was actually looking at a wheelchair with reclining back ,it looked exactly like the one u shown.
It was 3 or $400 so I figured it too expensive for my purposes (and too cheap possibly to be a good qualitywheel chair?) so got the Adirondack recliner.

i finally got my 40 cf nitrogen food grade cylinder and my exit bag all set up,

last step now im confused on the correct regulator? can anybody please help me find the right one? i will pay whatever is necessary but amazon would be most ideal.

i read the megathread and am still confused on an exact model with a nitrogen flowmeter AND the ability to get specific with about 15-18lpm?

any help is greatly appreciated, thank you guys

From what I remember reading over at GasMonkey's thread, there are movement reports in like half the observed cases, but nowhere near excessive enough, to make the straps an absolute necessity.

That is correct, for the exit bag a flowmeter regulator is required. The correct gas flow must be 15l/m or slightly higher.

Are you in the EU?

So the Adirondack recliner is a wooden chair?

I was looking at a zero gravity chair (100usd)....I found some that look like what GasMonkey has.
But some reviews are like you said, the locking mechanism can fail etc.
I looked at a reclining wheelchair (300usd) but they can be expensive. But I was thinking my family could use it afterwards.
I then found a reclining medical chair (300usd). My family could donate it to someone that could use it for legitimate reasons.

So I thinking about either the wheelchair or the medical chair.
Both would allow the use of a variety of restraints and straps.
I plan on either being inside a closed door room or being outside on a covered porch.
Being outside, would allow the authorities to take me away more easily than going thru a house.
Either way, I thought about have a bed sheet or something to cover me.
I thought about a folder with notes by me explaining to my family what has happened and what to do.
I want to avoid having my family see my body in this way.
I know someone will have to verify what happened, but not everyone needs to see me in this way.
I get sad thinking about all this. I wished things were different.

That reclining medical chair looks sturdy but its expensive(minimum $1000).

I actually have seatbelt leg restraints like in the pic but I'm debating whether to use it.
The reason being a few good quality cam buckle straps could prove to be much more secure than these cheap restraints you find online?.
I also got several different shirt like upper body restraints that u tie onto the side of a chair(it has long wide tapering straps on either side).
Also got 5 point harness, shoulder harness.

I tried the Adirondack chair today.I placed a Adirondack chair cushion on in I got online as well(it ties to the chair).
I think I will also use a pillow or half moon pillow behind the knees before using can buckle straps around chair and thighs.
Same straps at calf/ankles and chair.

I'm using can buckle straps because they are much stronger than say luggage straps.

Also ,
The strap at the waist will have 2 large carabiners (ones that can handle some force ,but doesn't need to be climbing grade I think).
I'm using gym wrist straps(heavy duty Velcro type with dual d rings)on wrists.
I intent to lock wrists onto waist by linking carabiners and d-rings.
I haven't got the gym wrist straps yet so I haven't checked if this is viable.

Chest will have another cambuckle strap but not tight at all (so it doesn't restrict breathing).

I plan on using a body strap, ankle and wrist restraints.
i might be over thinking it all.....most of these straps are made for people actively resisting and pulling away.
In the case of ctb, I dont think the movement is near this level.
So the straps and other restraints are more than likely way more than enough.

Either way, I need to get a chair, straps, etc and set everything up. Then try it all out and see if anything else is needed.
I think one of the main issues is to try to keep the head elevated or from bending over at the neck.
I would think this would be important for a hood or similar system.

I'm over thinking thinks too I think but I rather do that than the opposite.

What straps are u using for body(chest?),ankle, wrist?.
I think I will use straps at ankle and thighs(just above knees) as its a big strong muscle.

I found with the nearly 45° back angle the Adirondack chair places your back in ,it requires a bit of effort to fold forward, so this is great.

I have tried coming up with numerous ways to stabilize neck/head but they all interfere with EEBD (or exit bag etc).
I bought a head stabilizing cushion used for invalids but that would kind of crush the sides of a hood(or bag)
I dont think there is a huge concern of bending forward from the waist if-
a chair at about 45° incline is used
and
a strap is used just below the clavicle maybe(Strap should not be restrictive).
I think if there is a any issues of head movement it will be the head bending sideways, I'm not sure how much of an issue this is though?.

I thought I had everything set up but I'm really struggling to find the best way to restrain wrists and possibly forearms.
Does anyone have any good methods to restrain wrists and arms?.
I have been searching SASU nonstop but I'm not getting anything other than elastic straps on chair's armrests(u slide your arms in). However, this shift the body's center of gravity forward which raises the risk of your body folding forward ,right?

This is the last obstacle to gaining peace atm.

I definitely NOT trust it to work.
I have often seen where the product changes, but eBay sellers never update their sales information.
Balloon helium suppliers switched to 20% air mix around 2015.
It is highly unlikely there are any 98% balloon helium left.
Of course, if you have 20% air, you will not mess yourself up,
but you will not achieve your intended purpose either.
How do you know that???

@Elek @GerMann @Arak
using any kind of sealed chamber filled with pure inert gas is NOT going to work for the following reason:

Even though you inhale pure inert gas, you continue to exhale CO2 until your death.
Residual O2 in the bloodstream and body cells continue the metabolism process.
CO2 is a byproduct of that metabolism.
The sealed chamber will eventually become severely contaminated with CO2 mixed with the inert gas.
This CO2 will be re-inhaled, and returned to the bloodstream.
Buildup of CO2 in the bloodstream will trigger the hypercapnic alarm of the body's self defense mechanism.
Even while unconscious, it will cause the body to struggle severely to get O2,
which will probably result in the involuntary destruction of your setup.

Continuous flow of inert gas is absolutely necessary to purge exhaled CO2 out the bottom of the bag.
Masks are not recommended. The diver has high quality equipment, and knew what he was doing.
I was looking into a respirator mask. @TiredHorse recommended against it,
Just too complicated and fraught with possible malfunctions.
While it would be nice to achieve this method without a bag over your head, the risks of failure are not worth it.

This is my method, and I have studied it considerably.
But how would I know that my has a sufficient space for the co2 to flow out
I definitely NOT trust it to work.

So you are basically saying that most helium stores around the world straight out lie to the customers.
Also there are a lot of recorded succefull suicides attempts on the internet by researchers.

Anyone doing the SCBA method could give me some guidance? I've looked at GasMonkey and Rigbone's guides and determined the right model is # 4041690 PAS LITE, however from the sources I can find it from it looks like the pictures have a blue button on the LDV.

The description mentions positive pressure which I understand is the one I should be looking for but I just want to understand if the blue / red means anything.

All the pictures I've seen on this forum show the red button and where I am I can only find the item with the blue button? Forgive my ignorance, but since this setup is quite expensive, I just wanted to be sure. Vendor also won't accept exchanges or returns.

Well I am looking into the kind of straps used for wheelchair or dementia patients.
There are wrist, ankle, body, neck holders.....
They mostly appear to be velcro based. But some are different.
Right now, I am just trying to see what is available. Mostly browsing on the big online store.

I am using SCBA. I have 2-3 systems of the same type.

Blue: Negative Pressure (NP)
Red: Positive Pressure (PP)

According to @GasMonkey:
NP: At inhalation the pressure inside the mask is lower than ambient, at exhalation is higher than ambient.
PP: The pressure inside the mask is always higher than ambient.

Definately go for the red LDV (PP).
You also better off with the plug-in system in which the LDV goes into the mask easily instead of the screw-in system. So your LDV valve and your mask need to match this system.

I looked for the PAS LITE but I got a PS 90 for cheap. PS 90 is the older model.
My mask is on its way, a Panorama Nova, again, I was looking for the FPS 7000 but found the Panorama brand new for a good price.

So the point is that before you start buying components, you must have the complete picture in mind in order to put it together. If you can find a PAS LITE red button with plug-in type LDV, then go for a FPS 7000 or a Panorama Nova plug-in type. You might be able to find a PAS LITE kit with mask included, it depends on luck.

If you look at the thread "Show your setup", there are plenty of photos for your reference of all the information. I have the same exact components as @Wunderkind PS 90 + Panorama Nova (plug-in): https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/inert-gas-setups-gallery-show-your-setup.115461/

Thank you this is really helpful!

I think I might have been confusing the mask description (which included the panorama NOVA mask you mentioned) with the LDV re: positive pressure, I was looking at the kits with the oxygen tank included because I thought it might be better to have the compatible parts already sorted, one less thing for me to mess up lol. I'll look around again and see if I can find it with the red button.

The masks / hoses etc are universal.
The most important part is how the system is connected to a tank or cylinder. The part that reduces the pressure down to a level that the mask can use.
Different areas of the world use different connection types / threading and these systems are tailored for those.
So there are many different models due to this.

Thanks so much! Sorry for my ignorance, but this is referring to the adapters and connectors (eg CGA 580 to 346)? I'm currently trying to follow rigbone's set up and I think… the US connections would be the same for where I am.

I have fixed all the restraints on my chair except for the wrist/arm restraints(still exploring what's best here).
I used can buckle straps because there is nothing to click closed, instead u press the lever and tighten.
I think this is easier than luggage straps etc.
I've got straps on-
Chest,just below collar bone.
Waist,
Mid -femur,
Ankle.
I'm not sure how bad the spazms will be .
If I can't come up with anything better for wrist restraining, I will apply elasticated straps to the back legs of the chair(?).
I can't wait to get this all done .
If anyone has any ideas on restraints please reply.
