I live in Slovakia, so maybe it's batter somewhere else.

But, I had probably around 8 therapists during my life. Most of them did not help me one bit. I rarely received any advice or information. Usually it was more just talking to them about my life. For me it was like, I can't have friends irl, so I pay someone a lot to so they talk to me for an hour a week.

It seems most therapists I came across didn't know much about trauma, or asperger, or even depression. I don't know what they spend so many years learning. For example my last therapist did not know what is CPTSD, because I guess it's not a thing when you live in Slovakia.

I didn't recieve any usefull advice or framework on how I'm supposed to live my life. Everything I had to learn on my own using internet or observing myself. Nothing that I ever learned that helped me was from a therapist.

I'm not saying this to put down therapy. I think there are some good therapists out there that would be capable of helping me. But I think this job is incredibly difficult and requires a lot of talent, empathy and passion. Unfortunately most people don't have what it takes and then they end up only slightly better therapist than chatgpt. Most therapists are capable of handling easy cases, but actual trauma and depression is something they can't do.

Many people just say "get therapy", when you are suicidal. But it's not that simple. Most therapists maybe can get you over a breakup or mild anxiety. But not real problems like cptsd and the availability of good therapy is super low especially in countries like Slovakia.

I've had some good therapists. Also some I didn't connect with. Various doctors I've opened up to. Was inpatient once. Called support lines. Online chats. Text chats. Feels like I've done everything. Meds too. And yet here I am. I think they can help but when you have legit issues that can't be changed there's really nothing they can do.

Yes, finding a good therapist is extremely hard. In Argentina, 90% of them suck.

I've seen around15 therapists throughout my life and finally, I found this old man who's da boss and doesn't force me to live; he makes my brain "click" to pay attention to different perspectives as regards my existence and the point of living while still planning to die at a "young" age.

Hope there's a similar one for you in Slovakia too!

Not to be too intensely doomer-y but a vast majority of psychologists are either overworked, clueless or are in need of psychological treatment themselves. I have had so many bad psychologist who were either gullible enough to get manipulated by second grader, or couldn't handle someone saying they had suicidal ideation but pocket their money while insistently pushing a clinic that only does group therapy. Hell, even the best of them wrote outdated terminology onto a bill in 2023. And don't even get me started on how many of them just straight up ghost you or have waiting lists full until the year 2030.

Additionally, the field was invented by a piece of shit who wanted to fuck his mother and fuel his cocaine habit off the backs of women who were sexually abused by their fathers and by God has that field not improved. So unless you happen to be a 1950s housewife in need of Valium and an orgasm, the average psychologist will do nothing for you. And they stopped giving out Valium and Orgasms so your chances of treatment are better by finding a plug and the other kind of plug

Yeah, when I think about it in past the psycho industry was always kind of ehm brutally evil. They literally boiled some lesbains alive to "cure" them not that long ago. They killed and de-souled so many people using the disgusting lobotomy and were celebrated for it.

And in every era they were like "those doctors from decades ago were barbaric, but somehow we are now better and can do no wrong." It's deffinitely not even close as bad nowadays, but maybe in 50 years people will, look at our psycholists and wonder why did we even pay so much for such useless service.

Now, sorry for sliding in because of that, but I kinda have to defend Freud, who you are probably referring to.

who wanted to fuck his mother
I assume you mean the oedipus complex, of which the concept, at first, sounds weird I have to agree, BUT you have to take a step back and analyze what he meant. He said the stage attributes to children aged three to five years old. It ended when the child identified with the parent of the same sex and represented its sexual instincts. During that time, the child may feel closer to the parent of the opposite sex. It is important to note that Freud said that these feelings are not conscious and this stage is temporary. As said earlier, it ends when the child identifies more with the parent of the same sex, learns social rules and develops a more natural relationship with both parents.
He relied on empirical observations of behavior. A better explanation can be found here. My first language is not English, so it is a bit hard for me to explain it properly, sorry.

and fuel his cocaine habit off the backs of women who were sexually abused by their fathers
Freud had worked from 1882 to 1886 at the University Hospital in Vienna and in 1884 he switched to the neurological department where he had used cocaine for medication on patients. NOTE: Morphine was considered harmless at that time. He and his wife also used small doses on themselves for minor pain relief and performance-enhancing purposes until 1896, but never showed signs of addiction.
I don't know why you said "off the backs of women who were sexually abused by their fathers"... I know that you don't mean it literally, of course. But maybe you can clarify further?

I don't want to start beef. It's just that I don't think that Freud deserves that hate.

I agree with you, people - myself in the past included - tend to see therapy as a solution for every mental disorder. In fact, you only talk, talk, talk, feel relieved for a bit - if so - then enter the chaos again. It would be better to admit that therapy, by itself, is a just way to blurt out with someone, talking freely about your problems. However, I understand that there are many types of therapy, and finding one that suits for your case is an expensive, long and tough path.
