I just wanted to share my experience talking to Chat GPT: I am currently pondering to move to another city that is quite far away from most of my friends and my boy-friend, but closer to the mountains. I would really love to live closer to the mountains as I love climbing and mountaineering. I have been thinking about this for a while, but I have the feeling that I can't really ask anyone for advice as everyone I could possibly ask is biased in one way or another: Either they want me to stay where I live now, because they live there and don't want me to move away or they want me to move to the city where I consider moving to, because they live there.
So out of a whim I started talking to Chat GPT about this. And I was positively surprised about Chat GPTs ability to summarize the status quo and come up with ideas how to solve my problem. However, when I asked about concrete advice about how to find an appartment in the place I wish to move to Chat GPTs answers were not so helpful as it came up with ideas that make no sense for me (for example suggesting rental options only available for students, although I made it clear that I am not a student) and there were very few options that seem realistic for me. When I asked for other options it simply repeated the things it had already said. Despite this, I was positively surprised about Chat GPTs ability to provide some ideas and encouragement on how to achieve my dream of living closer to the mountains.

Yeah, i've found you kind have to steer/instruct it to reply in a certain way to avoid the lists with bullet points that are fairly useless most of the time. But it can be a great tool when you feel like you have something on your mind but no one to share it with.

To me it seems like moving to the mountains'd be a good decision, considering you're already looking up housing options. Worst case, you can always move back, right?

Thanks for your reply. To be honest I feel like I should at least try it. Otherwise I will probably always look back with regret for not at least trying to live my dream. It just seems so hard to give up what I have now in the city I live in. It's ironic, because now I have what I had always lacked and never expected to have (stable friendships, a loving boy-friend, finally feeling that I belong) and now it suddenly seems so restricting as I am afraid of losing it.
The good thing is I don't have to make the decision right now, as I will go travelling for a while starting this autumn and only after coming back I will need to decide where to look for jobs and housing.

Yeah, i can relate to that feeling. "i know what i have but not what i'll get". But i take it you do at least have some friends near the mountains as well, which might make things easier. Still, going travelling first sounds like a great plan.

Its very sad if you think about it
Yeah, it's sad that technology can be more communicative, empathetic, understanding, compassionate and kinder than 99% of the people on this planet. Also disturbing that humans can create something that lives up to ideals when everyone else irl falls short. It's a mindfuck.
