I've been unemployed for some time, and my father (who struggles with gambling himself and hasn't been a good influence) encouraged me to start betting on sports. At first, after losing a few bucks, I stopped. But over the following months, my expenses kept growing, and the pressure of not being able to recover that money pushed me back into gambling, hoping I could win it back.
That was about four months ago. Now, I've lost all my savings. My account is empty, and whenever I get any money from my parents, I end up gambling it away again.
I don't feel like I'm addicted, but at the same time, I don't see any other way to recover what I've lost, especially since I can't find a job. Setting aside my mental health struggles, the job market in my country is in terrible shape. Without connections, it feels almost impossible to get hired, even if you have some education. Even for basic jobs like cleaning, they ask for things like a car and prior experience. But how are you supposed to gain experience if no one is willing to give you a chance?
I fell right into the gambling's trap and I don't know how to get out. I feel so overwhelmed and I've started to SH after many years.
