Im personally pagan, i do believe in it to an extent, i really dont know what my afterlife will be like since im committing suicide though, im curious on what others believe in, trying to find some comfort and i like learning about others religious beliefs

I have mixed feelings. I was raised in a mixed family of catholics, muslims, hindus, and buddhist. I think religion has an important and meaningful impact for many people but it shouldn't define you. I am technically an atheist but a part of me hopes there is something on the otherside. Maybe a new start. If all goes well I will know tomorrow.

I've flatlined twice and nearly came close a few other times and I can say without a doubt that the chances that something else comes after this is slim .

ah, i grew up in a baptist/christian family, i hated it, at 14 i converted to paganism, i still believe in my gods but i havent worshipped them in so long i really dont know if id be accepted into that afterlife

No, I believe death to simply be non-existence where this dreadful, torturous existence is all gone and forgotten which is all I hope for, all I want is some peace, I just hope and wish to never suffer ever again.

I'd never wish for the burden of existence and I'll always see it as a burden to exist, it's one only non-existence can bring me relief from and no matter what I'd just always prefer to not exist than suffer so unnecessarily in this existence I always saw as a mistake where there is no limit as to how much one can be tortured.

I expect the initial moments after death to be similar to my NDE - free spirit out of body looking back on the scene, but not really caring about the body that just died. After that who knows, but something seems more likely than nothing.

No. I was raised extremely religious and was terrified of hell (especially when I realised I was gay) but it doesn't make logical sense. I think it's the same as before birth. Nothing/you won't remember.

If you look at religion from an atheistic stand point, hell/heaven is functional for keeping people morally accountable in big communities. Aztecs have rain gods because their lives were dependant on earth's fertility. Where the silk trade route was, there are polytheistic religions so it can be adapted with foreigners easily. So Christians and Muslims have the idea of heaven/hell for a function. Yoruba (a traditional Nigerian religion) doesn't have a concept of hell because villages were small enough (before colonisation) that people didn't need fear to be kept accountable (e.g. stealing animals).

I've been an atheist for years, because everyone in my family, outside my mother who was hellbent in getting me baptized as a catholic for some reason, is what I consider to be highly superstitious, but not really religious, even if my grandmother says otherwise. Pretty sure both my grandfathers were at least agnostics, too.

But in recent times, I've been hoping that I get to be a psychopomp after this. Just being someone there for people when they need the most is something I could get behind for all eternity, no problem.

I somewhat believe in panpsychism. Consciousness is recycled but not as in one being transmutes into another but consciousness elements that collectively form each of us are redistributed into different collections

Yeah,well not in the sense that we are still humans or any beings but i like to think that we become stars in the universe or trees in the forests,like our soul just inhabits those things?

I guess its not realistic,and most likely its just a void,but its comforting i guess to think of that,i remember when i SH on my arms and a bit on my neck,i looked at the night sky since my shutters were up as it was the middle of the night around 11pm-1 AM? and i wished i could go up there and see everything.

At this point I don't believe there is an afterlife. I do think our existence is strange, mysterious and I won't say God in some form doesn't exist. I don't like atheistic dismissal of God nor do I think that what religions believe in is real but I think it has some basis in reality. Either way, its something we don't have concrete answers and I don't think we will any time soon. I personally think when you die you die, it seems logical to me that brain shuts down and can't experience flow of time or anything, something like coma. You do not experience anything because you simply cannot experience it. Reincarnation is interesting to me because I read long time ago how children in first few years remember their past lives and how they could pinpoint who they were and what they were doing. There were some cases where it turned out to be true that their memories coincide with real people that died. Can't say anything conclusively, just "I do not know".

i do genuinely believe in it!! i worshipped the greek gods for most my teen years, ive just strayed away some and dont know if id be accepted in the religion anymore

lmaooo, the gods are so cool i love them, i dont want to give too into specifics but thanks to one of them i made over a thousand dollars when i was desperate for money, and i will forever be thankful for that

Think about it this way. Billions of people have died in the past. There are billions more alive today that will eventually die as well.What's the point of an afterlife? We are just an amalgamation of cells and organic matter. When we die, that's the end.

Again, what's the point of an afterlife? Other than to sate our own ego?Human beings love the idea of an afterlife. So we can continue on for eternity right?so absurd.

Hey. We exchanged some replies yesterday on another thread. People have been wondering about the afterlife since the dawn of time. Nobody knows what lies beyond this life, and nobody ever will. People have to figure out what makes sense to them. I was raised very conservative Christian. Now I have a mix of beliefs of Christianity and New Age. I do believe we live multiple lives and our souls choose in incarnate into our bodies to learn spiritual lessons. I believe in a loving God. I don't think God would be angry with me if I ever ctb. My biggest fear is that I would get to the other side and have regrets that I ended my life before I learned all the lessons I was supposed to learn when my soul decided to incarnate into this body.
