Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Is it a good idea to breath helium from balloons to feel faint while the noose is on the neck and fall?

If that helium is mixed with nearly 20% oxygen, then it won't be helpful. If the proportion of oxygen is low enough, then breathing the gas can mitigate discomfort from FSH by reducing the intensity and the duration of unpleasant perceptions. The gas used for making a whipped cream could be better because of its analgesic effect.

Key moments:

1. Low oxygen concentrations in the lungs produce the inverse flow of oxygen from the bloodstream to the lungs' space. Lower oxygen concentrations imply higher flow rates. Higher rates of oxygen loss imply faster effects on consciousness and sensitivity to physical discomfort.

2. Deep exhales are more efficient at removing oxygen from the lungs than shallow exhales.

3. Deep inhales of the asphyxiant gas are more efficient at creating low oxygen concentrations inside the lungs than shallow inhales.

4. Holding breath with a bigger volume of the asphyxiant gas inside the lungs is more efficient at keeping low oxygen concentrations inside the lungs than holding breath with a smaller volume of the asphyxiant gas inside the lungs.

5. A series of 2 - 3 deep exhales and deep inhales of the asphyxiant gas, followed by breath holding may suffice for producing fast transition from full consciousness to unconsciousness starting a few seconds after the first inhalation.

6. When the first symptoms of gas asphyxiation (clouding of consciousness and changes in vision) occur, this is probably the most appropriate moment to grab the rope by the hands with an effort that would suffice to prevent hanging for some short period and then remove the support below the feet.

7. When the hands cannot hold the weight of the body anymore, the actual process of hanging starts. Loss of consciousness will likely happen a few seconds later. The experience can still be unpleasant, but to a less degree and shorter in duration than if FSH was carried out without gas asphyxiation.
