Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Thanks or No Thanks to AI and Robotics, there is gonna be a glut of Suicidal people in the next decade or so. Being Unemployed will be the natural state of existence of most people. Even in countries that could provide Universal Basic Income, the situation is going to be far from utopian. I only hope Govts across the world introduce a liberal MAID program with no laundry list of eligibility criteria. Will this happen ? Your thoughts ?

I agree. The next decade will be a revolution and suicide rates will rise like never before.

UBI will replace welfare and will be a big con. Propaganda which looks good but keeps people desperately poor.

Hypercapitalism and inequality will increase. Those psychopaths own all the political systems now.

Deaths of despair and suicides will increase but the information will be suppressed. Assisted dying will gradually come in as a "humane" front, while austerity continues to kill millions.

GPT is the new bespoke propaganda machine, to replace mainstream media and keep all the poor on our knees.

Growth aka corporate welfare will continue, billionaires robbing the public purse of all but the most basic needs of populations.

Governments will become more authoritarian, police will be militarised to deal with any revolts, which likely won't happen as people are stupid consumer/slaves who are scared of standing up.

The digital panopticon will be refined. Creative arts will be defunded. Education will be obedience training. Humanity will lose all its best qualities.

Business as usual basically, only far far worse. Likely a war or another genocide at some point, they'll want to use all those new weapons.

We lucky folk will be dead. YAY!

Meaningful work that rewards people's talents and allows their humanity.
Not bullshit wageslavery for scum states and psychopathic corporations.
So its not gonna happen.

The whole lot's doomed, because we elevated psychopaths to positions of extreme wealth and power.
Because most humans are vain, stupid, cowardly and greedy.

Even this is gone. Entry level is disappearing quick. These places don't care. Private equity is evil. There's no reversing it. No one cares. All in power continue to gain wealth. How do you start a revolution in the modern world?
I don't think you can. Thus the original thought, despair takes over and we start to die

I don't think everything they say is true. Layoffs can happen for any reason and they just say AI to sound legit. The real reason can be greed or the company is not performing well in the market. Same with anything in life. No one will say the truth even I lie to sound more professional if I screw up. I am even told to do it because I can be too honest sometimes.

That'd be nice , my suicide would be drowned by many more suicides. But I doubt things will play out this way, unless they make a genuine breakthrough soon enough

I kinda want to believe that AI is still in a very primitive, rushed state and that in the race to create and use "the best AI", the corporations have spent way too much, way too early and it's all turned into one big overvalued bubble which will crash just like the "dotcom" bubble in 2000.

As more and more people lose their jobs, hopefully we'll see laws against replacing workers with AI. Hopefully, laws against AI generated art and advertisements too. I could totally see people rioting over it in the near future unless the AI bubble just bursts by itself from the overvaluation.

Either way AI is a scourge and I hope it fails badly. Because it could, sooner or later, cause the world to become what you've described. After all, the IT business which was overvalued in 2000 and crashed came back in the 2010's and kept growing rapidly, crashed a bit in 2020 then keeps growing again. Although AI is a big part of it now so an "AI crash" could become another IT crash. There's a lot of people who believe it won't just be a "mere" crash this time but a global economic reset.

I guess my wish would be that it all crashes "enough" for the corporations to lose a lot of their power and the people rising in their stead. But then again, humanity never learns, there's always those power abusers who'd sacrifice us all for a frickin dollar.

The digital revolution is no small part of my suicidal ideation. I'm talking about stuff you are forced to use or soon will. Not the desktop computer I'm using.
