I have spent a long time, considering method for ctb. I will not go in length about that in this post but iv done quite a bit of homework , even some test setups. Its pretty hard, i find myself messing up prep phases with a less than palatable success rate. I am adamant about my 1 and done policy, no attempts, no retires , just 1 and done. And i got to thinking if i had a gun maybe i could work my way to a gentle squeeze and i would be gone easy.

1 little wrinkle is i don't live in a place where guns are easily accessible at all. But it got me thinking , i can still gain access to a gun, at least hold a gun in my hand.
At a shooting range, iv gone quite a few times, i enjoy shooting, there i can have a gun in my hands , loaded and ready to go all that would be left is the act itself.
Only as you guys imagine, there no time to think in such situation no time to consider, plenty of people around even on empty days, the staff there monitor you pretty strictly to make sure you not endangering others, but i assume that could easily apply to endangering yourself too. And i can easily assume they are good at disarming you quickly.

So it has to be a swift motion , point right down the middle of your skull and pull the trigger, no hesitation can be afforded. which makes this seemingly simple plan very hard.

The other thing is...about the other people there, they would have seen a guy you know, paint a surface a different colour with his head. I am a believer in doing no harm if not necessary , i just cant think in an unbiased way on this matter. Is this really necessary ? Does my exit require some person just minding his/her own business shooting paper to possible be severely traumatized ?

like you mentioned at the end id stronly avoid this method if you can find another, its not really fair to potentially give bystanders trauma, and given that youd have to be very very quick as this is one of the situations which staff are specifically trained to stop, youd increase your chance of fucking something up and ending up a vegetable

depending on your country's laws there may be similar alternatives to firearms, though those come with their own risks. im from new zealand and i can buy a hunting crossbow without a firearms license but getting that setup right is a whole other can of worms

It's a terrible method for many reasons.

Like you said, you're surrounded by people. They will react immediately--calling 911, performing first aid if you're injured, restraining you if you're not injured, etc. I guarantee that staff are trained in first aid and there's multiple first aid kits around the shooting range. You have a much higher chance of surviving since people will try to save you instantly.

You're also going to traumatize anyone who's at the gun range, from employees to patrons.

With a business like a gun range, you can guarantee they have protocol in place for situations like this. Because this won't be their first experience with it, so the staff will be watching for particular behavior and will do everything to intervene to prevent someone from ending their lives in their establishment.

Suicides have increased at gun ranges all over the country. They now don't let any solo patrons in the ranges. You have to at least have 1 acquaintance with you when you check in.
