Are there any words you particularly like?

I like the word: 'Disgruntled' for example.

Are there words you like in other people's languages or dialects? I like the way American's say 'Aluminum'. It sounds more magical than the UK pronounciation. I wonder why we add an 'i': It's 'Aluminium' here but then, lots of our spelling is confusing.

my favourite word in the english language for a long time was "wife"... I felt it held a certain closeness and vulnerability that I envied.

Now my favourite word is still. There is a song lyric:

you are someone else
I am still right here

I find it fascinating, because when I first heard it I thought of "still" as meaning unchanged, same, etc. But after hearing it a few times I started to think of still in the sense of unmoving. The idea that you are "still" in the more literal sense that you are unchanged, but in the metaphorical sense you have not moved. I like how the word "still" can have this double meaning of literally being physically still, or emotionally/spiritually being unchanged.

I used to like studying languages and I remember learning words in other languages that do not exist or have exact equivalents in English and being fascinated by the meaning and concept of those words, but I've since stopped this study and have forgotten those words.

Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair

My fav.... i think it's "kłębuszek". Polish word meaning mainly "small ball of yarn" but might also mean cutely curled up animal and also has medical use as equivalent of "glomerulus"

Quixotic is a fun one

Funny that you find "aluminum" to sound better, because as a Canadian (where in French we say it with the i but in English without), I prefer your guys's way of pronouncing it!

Ha ha- I've heard others say that about 'aluminium vs. aluminum'. I guess it's just the novelty of a different pronounciation.

English is weird though, even some words people will pronounce differently- scones is another one.
