Why wouldn't it work

Why would a suicide collar that keeps pressure on the carrotid arteries work but yet people say that cable ties/ zip ties wrapped tightly around the neck wouldn't work. They would apply consistent pressure as well so I really am not understanding this, especially I wrapped like three different ones around my neck.
I think the difficulty with the strangulation method lies in tying the ligature firmly enough so that you can properly compress your carotid arteries and stop the blood flow to the brain. You will need to use your own strength to achieve it (something that not everyone possesses, myself included), and a lot of determination.
It's most frequently used in homicide cases. There is no doubt that it can cause death. But strangling yourself takes a lot of guts.
