Azide is much more poisonous than sodium nitrite. Why do people prefer it?
I'm scared of storing azide in my house, it can potentially be explosive and is very toxic if the bottle breaks or anything like that

Probably because it can be potentially explosive and is very toxic...
Also, I imagine that it would be harder to get hold of, and probably not as well-documented as sodium nitrate. And it could cause more suspicion.
