From what I've seen on here, most people are doing SN or trying partial. And people are struggling to find a way to die that they'd like. If full hanging is only 20 seconds until unconsciousness, why don't more people do it? It makes me think there's something unwanted about full hanging that I don't know about. I'm planning to do full hanging myself, so if there's a reason people don't wish to do it, I'd like to know.
It's just seems too good to be true if more people aren't doing it.

So, if you're personally not doing full hanging, why? Is it just that some people don't have anywhere to hang from?

Full suspension is harder to do and, if you survive, can do more damage to the body. It requires you having to find something strong enough to hold your entire body up. Along with that, if you survive you might be at higher risk of sustaining damage to your neck and spine, which can lead to all sorts of issues.

People who enjoy planning suicide also enjoy having control over their suicide. Both partial hanging and sodium nitrite provide a semblance of control and complete reversibility.

I think there is a perception it will be very painful. From what I have seen in hanging videos people are unconscious very quickly. Seconds it appears. This is not the thrashing that may happen later they are unconscious

FSH is really easy to mess up, and if you do mess it up the 5-15 seconds of pain until LOC will turn into a few minutes of agony

Si hits a lot harder, if you fail you can fuck up your neck or brain , and you have far less control .

FSH is my method. I think that perhaps many people might not choose it because of the "final scene" which can be disturbing to the person who finds you. Or perhaps because of its "dark" background, traitors (Judas for example), criminals, or prisoners ended up that way... which is why some may think it is an "undignified" method.

Users who choose SN as their method may prefer to be able to mimic a natural death; they could be in their bed or choose a pleasant place to spend their final moments.

Do you really think, there are much people who ENJOY planning their suicide? I understand this but I doubt that many people feel the same.
Full hanging offers also the chance to control your suicide. You only have to step back on the stool.
I think the reason is, that they use uneccessary thin ropes what makes it to painful to go on.

The 1st post in the hanging megathread describes partial hanging, and reasons why users may choose it over full suspension hanging~ You can find it here~: https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/how-to-hang-yourself.1183/
In regards to why one wouldn't want to do hanging at all, I personally don't wish to because if you're found within 30 minutes and "saved", you have a strong chance of becoming a vegetable/braindead~ :( which would make your life far worse than if you fail something like SN where there is very little consequences~

For me, it's a scary and grotesque method. It was my go-to method before I started researching on suicide methods. I want it to be as painless as possible

i never had a good ancher point to do full suspension
its also safer with partial if you fail
partial is just all around easier to do only problem with it are SI and the possibility to abort

If full hanging is only 20 seconds until unconsciousness
There's no guarantee. I've seen more than one that took minutes, one even being something relatively long like 7 minutes or something...wigging, peeing etc not a pretty sight. Full suspension has a sudden and abrupt aspect to it. Once you kick the support out whether it ends up taking long or not it's still a commitment. Partial is more of a lean into it sort of thing and there's a little more room to back out last minute.

For me the aesthetics are important and I find the aftermath of partial suspension less visually disturbing. Maybe it's a bias due to hanging being used as punishment for crimes. I don't the idea of a sad person punishing themselves.

Convulsions do not mean that people are conscious. Convulsions also occur in the inert gas method.

I think one of the big reasons why people prefer other methods instead of full suspension hanging is because of how disturbing the aftermath can be. And also If someone doesn't do it with the right knowledge, it can go wrong and leave them in an extremely painful state, sometimes even surviving but with serious damage for the rest of their life. And when it does lead to death, the body usually goes through extremely unsettling changes. It's common for the muscles to relax, which makes the person urinate or pass feces. On top of that, the face often becomes really swollen and distorted, sometimes to the point where it looks almost unrecognizable and terrifying. All of that makes it a nightmare for whoever ends up discovering the body afterwards.
But I have researched this method for a long time and don't care about the aftermath. It is so versatile and can lead to death in just a few seconds without much pain. That's why hanging is my method of choice.
