Discussion When did you find out Santa wasn't real?

14-15. My dad never bothered to tell us. I just figured it out myself.

I was 7. My mother got mad at me for cutting my Barbie's hair. She screamed at me and my little sister at the top of her lungs and threw the Barbie receipt at my head. My little sister and I were crying so hard and holding on to each other as our mom continued red-faced screaming at us how Santa was fake. Pretty traumatizing.

My parents never said he was real and they didn't push it when I knew he was fake. I did, however, get in trouble for telling other kids that he's fake.

Then one day I had a very short phase that he was in fact real, but that parents are his "little helpers" that he hires to hide the presents. No one told me this, I came up with it myself. Very brief phase during the tale-spinning "what if (random thing)?" part of my childhood, so I don't count it.
