I was asked this by seller:

"Hey ___,

Thanks for your order.

Tracking is automatically emailed as courier scans your item into their vehicle.

Can you please let me know what you intend on using this product for?

Cheers"

Depending on the purity, curing meat or scientific analysis for a study.

In this case, it's more plausible with the scientific analysis story. Just say you're a student and you're doing some kind of bullshit experiment you can invent or google, and you need a sample to perform it on your own cause you want to reproduce what you learned in class.

Anything > 97% is "pure for analysis" grade.

What subject?

Would "I'm a Biomedical Science student who needs it to conduct a study for my thesis" be good?

Honestly no idea but yeah that should suffice. The guy is a seller, not a private investigator and if he doesn't want to lose the sale it should be enough. If he's pressing too much I'd cancel the order, that would be too suspicious for my taste.

Why is it any of their business?

It seems SN is becoming more of a red flag to sellers these days.

EDIT: The "cheers" makes me think this is happening in the UK and it seems there are stringent laws on SN there, so if that's the case it explains the intrusiveness of the seller.

It is getting more common to see SN victims in the ER. I am afraid it is going to begin to get more scrutiny now that it is becoming common.

I told my provider that it was for a photographic job. As he had put in his ad.

EDIT:

Vendor:
"thank you for placing an order in our shop. We are now working to complete your order. It will be sent soon.

Your order contains:

1x: Sodu Azotyn SODIUM NITRITE 99,9+%- 250 grams"

Me
"Hello,

Please can you tell me when the product will be delivered? I have not received any notification or know where it is. The tracking number is wrong.
I am a professional photographer and I need those chemicals for my work urgently.

Thanks and regards."

I am not a good liar but it worked!

It's coming.
