Power Eleven Japan 250614 181246
So I thought "Hey, that was the first match, surely later ones are harder, right?"

And thus, I am back, cause this game doesn't cease to amaze me. It's actually a well crafted arcade sports game, don't get me wrong, but that keeper is worse than I was at middle school soccer matches. (OK maybe that's exaggerating a bit heheh...)

Here are some other nuggets I found in the game:

Power Eleven Japan 250614 181443
Super Saiyan Footballer: Don't even try to win next game. I already bribed the arbiters. If you so much as look funny at us, you'll get a red card pronto! *menacing*
Note: There are no fouls or cards in this game...

Power Eleven Japan 250614 174503
I've literally never seen cheerleaders on soccer games. I don't know why these old games feature them so much.
...Also obligatory panty shot.

Power Eleven Japan 250614 181335
I don't have a joke for this one. I just think it's a 🆒 screen. 😎

Well...this is embarrassing...FOR THEM! *MLG horn*

This is Power Eleven for the TurboGrafx-16, possibly the game with the worst keeper AI that I've ever seen. It doesn't help that I can pass the ball like a pinball between my teammates, but man...that score's enough to go bust on blackjack, for crying out loud!

Right now I'm playing Omori, an indie game I had been wanting to play for quite sometime. Still not sure what the game is trying to convey, but it's been a comforting and funny ride, reminds me of Undertale (idiotic humor and memorable characters)

I'm glad it scratches your itch. I've finished Undertale many times, and I've been obsessed with it in the past. Looking back, it destroyed my psyche due to how much I wished I could live inside that game, instead of my crappy reality. It was like a dream, being shown right on my screen, so near, yet so far. It was a dark time in my life.

Now, I pretty much avoid any games that have emotional undertones due to that, and this means many games are just out of bounds for me. I have to content myself to games with as little story as possible. Anything could trigger another "I wish I was inside the game" obsession again...

Some screenies for Tecmo World Cup, for the Genesis:

Tecmo World Cup USA 250615 183057
Champions of the world, as seen via Fantavision. (non-colorized, 1992)
At least they're not as deep-fried as the last ones.

Tecmo World Cup USA 250615 183140
Say what? BTS made graphic for this game? Jungkook secretly a game dev? I know nothing about K-pop!?
Hint: Yes.

So I finished Tecmo World Cup for the Genesis, released in 1992. Despite the only FAQ on GameFAQs being made by a hater, and me also hating the game as a kid, after playing again, it's suprisingly decent. Has a lot of flaws, but for an arcadeish simple two button soccer game, it plays alright. Has a couple of irritating mechanics, and you don't feel in control of where you kick the ball when on goal's range, but otherwise...could be far worse, could be deep-fried championship over there.

Oh, that happened to me far too often in the past. Animes, such as Evangelion and GTO, storytelling games, books. I remember that embarrassing feeling of wanting to have a fictional character as a friend, and of actually crying for the impossibility of it. I was a very lonely boy. It doesn't happen anymore, tho, probably because I've lost the ability to be really immersed in something. Aging is a bitch in all senses. I'm sorry for you. On the bright side, at least you have a ton of retro games to discover (don't ever try the e.t game for atari XD).

Too late, I already tried ET multiple times. It's not as bad as some people put it, but it looks like a rushed one-man project (Which it was, so there you go.)

Sometimes I just get a full ROM set's game names, strips everything but letters and numbers, as well as everything between brackets, parenthesis and braces, and the extensions, and eliminate the duplicates, then I randomize the order and I play part of the list. It's a great way to discover new games sometimes when I'm bored.

But yeah, I don't think I've lost the ability to be immersed, so it still happens. I think I have some sort of PTSD with these things. It's like it's telling me "You know the thing you love, you want it so much? You'll never having it, you're stuck with the horrible reality. No matter how much you want it, you'll never get it, NEVER!" 😥

FIFA International Soccer USA Europe EnFrDeEs 250617 234435
EA Sports: It's in your ass!

FIFA International Soccer USA Europe EnFrDeEs 250617 234645 Yep, EA Sports' FIFA, the game every dad owns, owned or will own (Either that or Madden) is here...at least before it was renamed to FC or whatever. So yeah, to think this franchise is over 30 YEARS OLD is just mind blowing, let alone that it was released back then for the Master System all the way to current gen, including every major handheld. Almost every system since its release has at least one iteration of the series. It's almost frightening how much it spread since its first humble '93 release.

Well, this is EA so people are going to immediately boo them for existing but back in the 90s, EA, or Electronic Arts as it was called, was actually a decent publisher of quality games...most of the time. This was before EA became one of the worst things to exist in the universe. Its name, Electronic Arts, actually meant something back then! Oh, how the mighty have fallen... FIFA International Soccer USA Europe EnFrDeEs 250617 234521

Anyway, FIFA International Soccer for the Genesis is not incredible, but it is a jump in quality and gameplay over the previous soccer games on the big G. It runs smoothly, it controls smoothly, you can play as BRAZIL, the game has a weird low angle isometric view, and if the players go straight down, it looks like they're race walking! Move those hips!

Perhaps the most notable improvement over previous games is the AI, as in, your teammates are not complete dolts. Sometimes, even, it's better to let them tackle and approach the opponent cause they got the same reflexes as them. Also, although the controls are mostly good, the players sometimes control like...cars? How do I explain...it's like sometimes you tell them to go the opposite direction they're facing and they do, like, a reverse circle turn, like a car. It's...weird.

Also, I learned how to properly format images! Yay!

International Sensible Soccer Europe EnFrDeIt 250618 020054
This is the ideal soccer body. You may not like it, but that's what peak performance looks like.
OMG Look at the tiny feet! teeheheheh...

International Sensible Soccer Europe EnFrDeIt 250618 021534 It's soccer, and it's sensible. Before the rise of giants like Konami and EA, Sensible Software had a game that was, for many, the best soccer game at the time: Sensible Soccer. Originally developed for Amiga, it was a series of soccer games, but you played as lemmings...well, not really, but the in-game vision makes the players really small!

I've played the Amiga versions before and, suffice to say, one button just isn't enough for soccer. Here in the mighty Mega Drive (Because the game is an euro exclusive) we have a whooping THREE buttons...but you can still play it Amiga style if you use just the B button which is a do everything button anyway. A and C are auxiliary but they help with long balls and through passes.

International Sensible Soccer Europe EnFrDeIt 250618 020157 Just like the other Sensible Soccer releases, it has some themed custom teams, like a fruit team, a team full of people with the surname "Jones", a team with the dev names (Obviously) and even a team full of bird species...that's something modern sports games are lacking: Goofy custom teams because yes why not?

The best improvement over the Amiga versions is that the ball actually sticks to you instead of flying off your feet at the slightest turn. It helps a lot since the game is very fast, and almost a bit confusing sometimes. It plays straight on the arcade side of things with wild curveballs and the like. Overall, it's not my favorite, but the Mega Genesis Drive version fixes some annoying mechanics and makes the gameplay tighter.

I got the switch 2 (kind of a stupid purchase on hindsight, at the time I was thinking I wouldn't CTB or would do it later) so I've been playing a lot of RFGOA, but then I got stuck trying to decide which character I actually want to pursue romantically so I haven't touched the game in a few days. I picked up Dicey Dungeons again, my ex and I would play it a lot when we were together. I *want* to keep play Monster Train 2, but I was trying to mod it and stopped being able to make progress in the mod so I lost the will to actually play it. Oh, and Cytus (mainly 1) and Project Diva Megamix.

Ultimate Soccer Europe EnFrDeEsIt 250620 191005
Heheheh..."Shootout"...
There's also a kick in the nuts animation. Ah, the 90s...

Ultimate Soccer Europe EnFrDeEsIt 250620 204750 This is another soccer game I had the (dis)pleasure of playing first on the Amiga. Ultimate Soccer, released in 1993 for the Genesis, and develpoed by Rage Software, known for their...Doom ports? They apparently made the recent Doom ports for PS4, Switch and XBox...huh, never would have guessed.

Anyway, this game was also one I played in my childhood, albeit the SNES version. I liked the game on a technical level back then, but I couldn't seem to be good enough on it to enjoy. But now as a grown ass manchild, I finally have the skill to be able to enjoy this children's game!

The audiovisual presentation is pretty good. Even the in-game camera is a pseudo-3D back-to-front camera, and it looks great...in still photos for the gaming magazines. Like the Amiga version, the game runs at about 20-25 FPS, Which is semi-acceptable, given the whole 3D camera, but it seems to be more reliable with inputs and have less input lag than the Amiga version, which is a relief. Ultimate Soccer Europe EnFrDeEsIt 250620 190621

The gameplay is surprisingly smooth. It's an 1 button game because it's technically an Amiga port, but it works pretty well actually. A short press makes a low, fast and short shot, a long press lobs it with a lot of air time, but not much distance, and a press between short and long gets you a powerful long distance air shot, ideal for goals and long passes. You can even curve the ball mid-air, although it loses momentum pretty quick this way.

The game is also very customizable. You can change wind, pitch, if players have inertia, how the ball behaves, and even switch between 6v6 indoor soccer or 11v11 traditional soccer. Overall, it is somewhat iffy because of the framerate and some depth perception issues with the 3D, but as a soccer game it is good enough, I say.

nope, there is none of that in the game. Its just for me this has been the most scary and unsettling horror game I have played, mainly cus of triggering my fear of abandonment really hard at one point and some of the stuff you can see is so unnerving and creepy and sections of the game gave me anxiety. The only other game's horror that has effected me this way is with Undertale's amalgams but this game effected me much more. My pfp is actually from Omori. I found this character's portrait to be so uncomfortable to look at for the longest time.

I don't know what you mean but I guess a mix? like some of the visuals and audio are creep and unsettling but also real in that the events that happen in the story I feel greatly as it connects with some of the biggest mental problems I face and so trigger them.

Tried playing Stalker Anomaly and holy shit why is it so difficult?

Like the enemies are insanely OP even on easy mode and I get killed before I can even find medkits.

But even so, I still love the environment, overall concept, aesthetic.
