Extremely painful, imo. Electrocution mainly leads to your entire body being burned alive, including your inside. Death usually happens from damaged internal organs leading to multiple organ failure. Very, very nasty way to go.
Most every US state has gotten rid of the electric chair, and for the ones that still have it, it's not the sole method of execution, as the condemned can choose a different method. I think that alone says how brutal electrocution is, if it's even too torturous for the most heinous of criminals. Your insides literally cook. Not a peaceful method at all. You deserve better.

The inert gas option is most likely the quickest and least painful option. Less chance of error than shooting yourself in head too probably, but not sure of the exact data on that.
