Tourniquet - need help

I am in a psych ward, no chance of release anytime soon. I can only do the tourniquet method. I have a pen and a piece of strap, I removed from a shopping bag.

I need help with the knot..how do I tie it..its not long enough..leaves little room for the pen to go in.
