There can be unexpected results of suffering.

1, Being able to offer comfort and support to other sufferers.
2. Being dislodged from the superficial and trivial can reveal a world of truth not previously apparent.
3. Being motivated to grow in wisdom and understanding.
4. To explore transcendence such as with meditation or religion.

True. That may be the purpose. Except number 1, because I'm simply too exhausted to care about other sufferers in practice.

I've always liked the idea of creating some kind of purpose for suffering. It's what I try to do when I feel well.
