Discussion the afterlife

what are your thoughts on what happens after death? i have been thinking about this a lot lately and it scares me
i think there is nothing but then i start reading stuff online and there is all of this stuff on spirits and souls and how people who ctb remain earthly bound because of their regret and they see all of the harm they have caused and then they have to purify their soul to cross over to 'the other side' - whatever that means
how do these people know that there is an 'otherside' or that spirits even exist in the first place?
im just worried that this afterlife might be more painful than this nightmare that i am living in currently

I feel like nothing really happens after death. There isn't really any scientific proof to suggest that there is so I personally don't believe in an afterlife.

absence of brain activity = no experience. so...id guess nothing. death is probably just a long, dreamless sleep.
