I'm wondering why this isn't more common? Blowing up your head seems like a quick way to go. The second article even mentions that the explosion wound was similar to a shotgun wound. It's not even that hard to get fireworks, the most you'd need to do is travel to a place where fireworks are legally sold.

Although it has worked for others, it doesn't have to work for you too. Many people even survived a head shot. Emagine your survive with permanent damge and your face looks like a zombie. Better use a method with proven success.

Sounds pretty grim but so does eating a shotgun. I wonder how reliable it is for ctb purposes. Certainly wouldn't want to live with the aftermath of surviving such methods. It does offer an option I had never considered and tbh it's one I probably never would but I can see how someone at the peak of desperation might turn to it. I suspwct people with prior knowledge and experience with explosives or fireworks would be inlcined towards it as they would know what they were doing whereas the layman is probably at high risk of hurting themselves severely and surviving with horrific wounds and chronic suffering. I notice at least one of those accounts mentioned there was fireworks manufacturing materials on the scene so some of those people must have been educated on that front.

It is also worth to mention that the second of the reports you linked to, is a firecracker. Which is a thing that is illegal in many places, and not the usual fireworks that go up into the air.

What I ment as to understand such reports properly is to not make conclussions out of it. They specify individual cases. It doesn't mention all the failed ones, and what that could lead to.

Yes, of course, I'm sure anyone could fail. But also, fireworks are explosives. Surely with explosives there is a way to use enough so that it's nearly full proof. It probably is a matter of simply using enough. Whatever that is. Not that we'd get that information from studies posted. And I'm sure no one here has the ability to test and figure out what that amount is.

On the other hand, be a good way to get them banned in the UK - my dog is *terrified* of them and around my neck of the woods, people set them off in the streets from the end of October until the kids go back in January. I did all the prep work and it worked perfectly until someone set some off right over my garden when I put her out at bedtime one random evening. It was like a scene from a war film. I was scared. She can't even deal with motorbikes since then. So ban the lot.
