A thread for discussing any suicide news that you come across.

I can't really judge her to be honest, especially because she chose a painless method (carbon monoxide) to kill herself and her disabled daughter.

But... how??? Sometimes these news articles pop up and make this shit look easy. How did she generate enough carbon monoxide at home in her bedroom?

RIP

The immediate reaction from me was anger, but then I remembered the disabled children dying in foster care and under the care of unaccustomed family members. I hope it was painless. I just wish someone would have helped the mom instead.

The daughter "was blind, non-verbal and had severely restricted mobility meaning her mum was her full -time carer". I can sympathise that she would have been difficult to care for, and time consuming, leading to isolation. And it seems to have been painless.

i feel bad saying this but i can't see it as anything other than an act of motherly love in a grim situation. she knew if she ended her life her daughter would be left with no one else who is as truly devoted to caring for her 😥 she probably feared for the worst imagining what could happen to her daughter. she even made sure the method was gentle for her baby. i'm heartbroken over it. i wish it never had to come to this.

Just another article that further cements the fact that we live in hell. These poor souls should of never been brought into existence in the first place.

I feel for both of them but IMO I think it was the correct decision, although I do not think the daughter should have been able to be born if the conditions were know before hand which we do not know.
Either way the daughter certainly had no life at all with being so disabled. So the quality of life would have been almost none besides talking to her mum and maybe her teacher/school helper. The mother would have been rather isolated because of having to look after her 24/7 and knowing you were going to be doing that until you died, then what happens to the daughter after your passing.

It seemed like a complete heck of a nightmare situation to be in and is understandable why she done what she done.

I think the mom was brave. It's so incredibly difficult to overcome SI and she did. Adding a daughter would make it unimaginably more difficult, and CO requires some prep and knowledge.
It seems a great act of love, considering the circumstances. Hopefully both find peace and happiness

Just did some research and apparently that is not a bad guess.
CO is effective but this site had a lot of failure stories too. This was effective and almost certainly peaceful for both though

A common theme with these failures: lack of preparation and testing. I would ignore all of them.

Somehow I doubt this mother was as thorough with her testing and prep though.

Maybe. Also, there isn't a lot to it. Maybe she sealed up the room well. That's the main thing, though, to me

Yeah, many people accomplish it first time without any planning, especially across asia but that is a gamble I'm not willing to take. From my perspective, use a CO analyser and make sure the environment is 10,000ppm before stepping in and its a guarantee ctb.

How can you use the analyser without being in the same environment?

Is this the method you're planning on using to CTB?

"If you can't see the analyser directly through a window, set up a second phone as a live feed and watch it on your main phone or use main phone and laptop from a distance. Yes my chosen method.

What a terrible story. But I can't justify the mother because we have no right over the lives of others, no matter what their lives are, no matter what their conditions.
