What an awful and unfair story. The DA is cruel.

The guy had a decades-long criminal history with multiple felony convictions including breaking and entering, burglary, robbery and weapons charges.

He was arrested because he committed yet another crime -- not because he intended to kill himself.

Guns are good to have as a suicide method (I know they also open a whole other amount of possibilites)

Why didn't he just take the safety off after? He would have known right away
