I need groceries but fucking hate going shopping for them. Sometimes I physically can't go to the shop. So I usually just pay to get them delivered.

Well, looks like since I last used instacart a few weeks ago, the app's been updated...and I literally cannot use it without updating - but it requires a newer OS than my phone, which is very old but in perfect functional state, will run.

I hate this shit. Useless governments letting big tech corps pillage the planet, exploit the shit out of the people mining the materials and assembling the products, just so they call sell a new fucking iphone every single year that isn't any goddamn different than the one every jerkoff lining up outside apple stores on release day already has. Unless it's worse - like axing the headphone jack - or a standardization improvement forced on them by the entire european union because america just sucks apple's dick.

This is far worse than buying an expensive product with a warranty that doesn't get honored. The companies that sell these things basically "break" them by making them useless long before they stop working. I have an even older phone I can hardly use because it straight up isn't supported on current mobile networks which were already plenty fast when I got the thing.

Makers should be forced to give away a free phone for every new model they release to everyone who already has one of theirs more than one generation old. Maybe they wouldn't make so god damn many. fucking poverty tax

Yes, buying a new smartphone every year is, for me, a symbol of senseless consumerism. We've reached a point where changes in new models are minimal and buying a new one makes no sense.
Smartphones should be able to be updated for a long time and be relatively easy to repair, but we know that corporations aren't in favor of such things, and the vast majority of politicians are giving corporations a blowjob.
