Trump basically legalized an ableist bill to send people to a lifetime of SLAVERY if you have any mental illness records, any health records of drug addiction, and or if you are homeless.

Basically if you ever told your doctor your dealing with something as common as depression or ANY mental illness your subject to be a victim of ableism and sent away and given a life sentence to be A SLAVE and you'll work all day in a labor camp.

To make it worse people online have been connecting the dots with the 'wellness camps' (SLAVE LABOR CAMPS) is being built with the full support of, United States Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Do doctor-patient confidentiality laws not apply anymore, like HIPAA? I don't think medical professionals such as therapists would violate the trust patients have in them. Unless there's an exception (e.g. court order) or a loophole, I don't think this Executive Order allows the government to pick up just anyone with a mental health condition. Then again, Trump has skirted laws and ignored courts before. So maybe he'll find a way to make it work.

Also, I thought slavery was already legal in the form of penal labor (wiki).

I can't find any proof of Wellness Farms being built. The buffalo.edu article quotes TeenVogue, who quote Mother Jones, who quote RFK Jr. in a YouTube video (link) posted in July 2024 (pre-election). So I don't know how serious the Trump administration is about actually involuntary committing people with a mental health condition.

I think people shouldn't be discouraged to contact a mental health professional if they think a visit would benefit them. I don't like the Executive Order but I don't think you should be alarmed considering confidentiality laws still apply.

I mean, they do all this stuff without thinking it through. It's hard to tell what they are really after. On the one hand I 100% believe there are people in power always looking for new ways to find cheap/free labor to exploit. It's why the "end" of slavery really wasn't the end. I mean, technically speaking the indentured servant never really ended at all... and many freed black slaves just kind of got slid over to that status if you think about it. When you were a slave you were owned and not at all free but you had a place to live and food and they had to keep you healthy to some degree in order to get slave labor from you... but you are freed and then you have to find a job but they don't pay much for the work you do and you can't afford a place to live or food or medical care and maybe you end up in debt and in jail and then BOOM free slave labor again!

And it's why they keep carving out exceptions to "all illegals are criminals and need to be deported" when it comes to farm workers, cleaning crews, and any other "menial" labor where they want to exploit workforce... suddenly they don't want to deport those. They really only want to deport the illegal immigrants who are actually additive to our society in higher-level positions. It's weird and should be scary to everyone, even if you think you're save because you are white or wealthy.

But the mental health thing keeps butting against the gun rights. Lots of people that most of us would consider not mentally stable to own a gun but the gun rights people are adamant against banning people with mental disabilities from owning guns. They say it is too easy to get on a list like that and too hard to get off the list and they don't want to restrict the 2nd amendment... but then five seconds later want to round up mentally disabled for some other reason.

I think in some cases they would find a literal fight on their hands because they made sure mentally disabled can arm themselves... but yeah, not everyone will be able to afford and have a gun... so those people they will be more easily able to manipulate and detain.

I 100% believe there are too many people in this country aching to outright own slaves again... so they will jump at the chance to try.

So, yeah... Whitey McWhite (me) is not about to challenge a black person's view of white oppressing of others in the USA. However, I will say that while it is convenient for white people to oppress people of color... they don't stop there. Poor white people are only considered as marginally better than a black person. And even middle-class white people can be oppressed if they don't toe the line on what the white oppressors want. As in, if you're white and speak up too much for the rights of others, the white power people will smack you down every bit as fast as they will a minority.

Poor white trash does get abused by the police too... the main problem with why it doesn't happen more is because ALL of society lets police get away with it more when it's a minority.

Frankly, I've said a lot how I don't even think most polite brutality is a result of racism. I think it's a power trip. I've seen a lot of corrupt cops who just think they make the rules and you'd better toe the line. They would absolutely abuse their power on anyone in their way... it's just... they 100% know that they have a better chance of getting away with abusing minorities than they do white people.

It's like the sad joke where a white girl gets kidnapped and its all over the news, but a black girl gets kidnapped and is buried on the back page of newspapers nobody reads. That is less about the white power oppressing and more about the rest of society allowing it.

IF all the people who really care about equal rights would stand together, I think there are more of them than there are people who want to oppress. Problem is, for most people if it isn't happening to them, even if they don't like it, they will allow it to happen unless and until either it affects them OR it becomes a "cool" movement.

"Me too" and "Black Lives Matter" were both cool for about 6 months and everyone was running around to be in the front of the line to support both of those... and the whole time I kept thinking, I bet a year from now we will be back to business as usual. And... I don't know if it even lasted a year. I mean, to the people being abused it is still happening of course! But it isn't even a blip on the news as a "remember when we cared?" segment.

The biggest trick the oppressive white people have pulled off is getting the rest of us fighting each other so they can rob us blind. It's like that meme where the power dude is stealing 11 of your dozen cookies and then pointing at the poor guy who is licking a few crumbs from your plate and the power dude says "hey, that guy is taking your cookies!" They do it over wealth, social issues, religion, and racism and gender-ism... anywhere they can get a wedge they will.

And yeah, there are white people who legit hate minorities and still want to own them. But make no mistake, they'd happily enslave a poor white dude too if they could get away with it. It's just "easier" to oppress the people there are currently less of in the country and who look more different. The more multi-cultural we become in the US and the world, the more people merge... the harder it will be to scapegoat each other.

Yeah, I always tell people... if you seriously want me to stereotype a whole race based on my life experience... it's white men who are the root of every major problem I ever had. Throw in a couple of white women for good measure too. I've had literally zero problems with anyone of any other race my entire life... so... if I have to be prejudice, I'm going to have to be a white-hating white man. :)

It's so much damn easier to be kind to people. I don't mean you have to love everyone and love whatever one does or be friends with everyone and hug and dance and kumbaya... but it takes a lot more effort to hate and be mean than it does just to accept and be kind. And, yeah, sometimes you're going to argue or maybe have to fight... it happens... but those should be the exceptions not the rule.

So many conflicts come from one person just being unable to let another person be.

Very random tangent... but appropriate... I have a memory in middle school of a girl who sat next to me in class. She legitimately did not like me. I don't know why, and it was not because she really secretly liked me and expressed it by being mean. She just straight up disliked me. I was fine with that because I didn't like her either. One day, though, somehow we got in an argument about that. I said I didn't like her and that kind of pissed her off. It's like... she really really didn't like me, but she wanted me to like her so that it would hurt me that she didn't like me. Her not liking me wasn't enough in her mind. That's fucked up, right? But so many adults kind of operate on this same kind of mentality. And it really messes with civilized society.

There are laws. They're just not enforceable.

FYI: Many gun shows in America don't require ids or background checks to purchase a firearm. Though it also depends on the seller, and make sure to research local/state laws before traveling.

This is known as "The Gun Show Loophole."
