I was out shopping this afternoon, and a store attendant kept staring at my scars. Situations like that are usually avoidable since I tend to only wear short sleeves at home, but it's starting to warm up where I live. I guess it's a natural human tendency to be curious when you see something out of the ordinary, but it still really hurts.

I wish I could go back in time and undo the fact that I used to cut myself. Apart from a couple of relapses, I haven't done it for years now. I'm so used to seeing my scars every day that I don't think twice about them, but when someone reacts like that, it reminds me of everything I've been through and how badly I used to cope.

I'm sure I'll feel better later tonight after some time to myself, but I'm just upset :(

I'm sorry. I'm glad you don't think of them much anymore. The staring is a cold reminder. & rude. ❤️‍🩹

It might be natural human tendency to be curious but they still should have the means to understand that it's very rude of them to stare. It's even worse when a person who you don't really know asks you about them. I don't know what the thought process is there. Hope you do feel better later

I would death glare at them back if I caught someone staring at my scars.

I suppose you could also get tattoos to cover them up if you don't like the look of them.

I understand feeling self conscious about your scars, it can definitely be discouraging. Please don't allow other people's judgement to have power over you though. They don't know the chain of events that lead up to this point in your life, and quite frankly it's none of their business.
