Safety when obtaining SN

I'm in the US and saw a few posts saying that when trying to obtain SN the police showed up at their door for welfare check, this cannot happen to me I live with my mom and have previously been admitted psychiatrically… Just wondering if anyone has any tips or references they can DM, thanks in advance.
