I read the firearm mega thread. I own a 9mm semiautomatic. I forgot the model. But I do have these ftx bullets that google says is a hollow point bullets.
Anyways, if you were me, a complete amateur inexperienced gun owner/shooter, where would you choose to aim the barrel? I have either behind my ear, above my ear, or in my mouth.
I've tried to aim behind my ear but I couldn't do it. I think mouth is comfortable instead. But the aiming is what bothers me for all points. I'm worried I will aim wrong, I pull the trigger, and I'm still alive. Help?

I'm not too clued up on guns/bullets as they are pretty difficult to obtain where I am - but for what it's worth, hollow point bullets are designed to expand, creating a wider/messier impact zone, but at the cost of some penetration. That said, I don't know if the skull can withstand something like that, but I mean 50 Cent took 9 bullets.. (sorry, probably not the space for humour)

I'd like to think intraoral would be sufficient (in your mouth, directed at your brain, not your throat). This is just my opinion and in no way am I encouraging it and/or have any idea whether your current ammo would help. If the bullet penetrates the skull, especially as a hollow point, I think it'll mash up your brain enough that it'd work.

If you have more ammo, you could buy a pigs skull or something a like and go "shooting" - see what the evidence is. (A random reddit post noted that a hollow point would work for taking out zombies, so I don't see how it wouldn't correlate).

Any of those the positions should produce fatal results. If I choose to use one of my guns it would be intraorally.

I was thinking about using the same method. I'd maybe put it in my mouth pointed towards my brain stem.

Always, always through the mouth. IMO aide of the head makes it more difficult to get the correct angle. I would feel more confident with it resting on my teeth too.

This brain stem obsession needs to stop. There is absolutely no need to aim for the tiny brain stem when you can just aim approximately around the top of your ear and get the job done reliably.

this has to be correct, right? I mean so many go out this way, they can't all be hitting brain stem. Or at least I can't imagine so. Seems too difficult

There are hot expanding gases following the bullet into the wound cavity, these expanding gases literally turn the brain and brain stem into a pulp, it's statistically best to aim above the ear than risk missing the brain stem trying to shoot in the mouth.

Statistically you're more likely to die from side of the head if using a pistol. If using a shotgun or a high powered rifle than it's another story, but with a pistol being a low powered firearm and the bullet generally having low energy means that if you shoot in the mouth or up the chin the bullet would have to pass through more bones than if aiming through the side of the head, this could lead to the bulllet losing so much energy that it could miss the target, ricochet or even fragment. The reason the side of the head is most lethal is because it would cross both brain hemispheres and has less bone to destroy than the other options, it also would pass through the center which is where a major blood artery in the brain is located.

So it's above the ear right? I thought about the mouth, but then I kept thinking about my teeth. I can't open my mouth wide cuz of tmj issues. So I was able to put it in my mouth, but not comfortable. If I want to make my wrist and hand more comfortable holding my semiautomatic, I gotta turn my head all the way and then aim above my ear. Like turn my head sort of sideways. Idk why but using my arm and positioning it straight with my head facing forward isn't comfortable. I gotta turn my head and face my ear a little down and then aim above my ear. If you can image tha

I am not a gun expert, boss. I've not even touched a gun in my life. I said what I said based on the tons of videos I've watched wherein people just casually off themselves aiming to the side of their head, somewhere near the top of their ears. There is too much paranoia being spread about botching up gun suicide and therefore stressing on the need to hit the brain stem. I just want to call BS on that.

BTW, you have a gun ? I am so jealous 😩 😭
