I don't think there's a hard rule for when features of the site are unlocked, but I know it's also time based. I think it might only be time based rather than an amount of posts needed, but if you just keep posting forum features will unlock over time.

If it's intentional then I think that it's rather stupid to block it if someone else is texting you.
Opening other profiles also comes with a 404...

404 on others' profiles? The "this person limits who sees their profile" message, I guess?

It comes enabled by default when you make your account I think. I had to go to privacy settings to disable it.

Based on what's been told about this sort of thing around here, seems like you have to surpass certain number of posts to unlock features like that. 30, was one number I saw.

Was notified of a private conversation someone invited me to, due to a comment I posted on the 'make a friend megathread', but was unable to even read the message.

I get it, this website has run into controversies, and they cranked up security. There is the common threats inside forums and all that.

I wonder what the person told me. I didn't make the usual type of comment in the megathread. Just said I wonder if that thing works, that I imagine plenty go unanswered.

I have a very vague memory of someone saying you need more than 30 posts to unlock certain things. I see none of us three have surpassed that number.

Otherwise, we'll have to contact support for... supoort, a.k.a tedium.

Look at profiles? As in, view them without the "This person limits who views their profile" message?

Ah, nevermind. I should stop asking about this.
