I suppose I could be categorized as a libertarian, but I hate almost every self proclaimed libertarian I have ever interacted with so I avoid the label.

Labels are silly anyways. I cannot think of many instances where categorizing humans has led to a positive outcome for said humans.

I don't even know but I hope I'm more left. I don't like the thought of being right wing, conservative. If it came down to the nuts and bolts of it though, I'm probably a bit of both so- in the middle and undecided I suppose.

I think the problem of it is- I like the idea of social equality and, helping the less fortunate etc. I think it gets exploited though so, in practice, I'm not convinced it works.

I followed the usual path. Started left, drifted centre, now centre right is probably pretty close, I'll probably keep going in that direction.

I remember Charlie Munger once said something along the lines of if you're 20 and right wing, you have no heart. If you're 80 and left wing, you have no brain. Which was meant more humorously than seriously, particularly given he was sitting next to someone who was 80 and left wing and he deeply respected (Warren Buffett). But it's interesting following the stats over the last century - age is by far the biggest predictor of political preference almost everywhere in the world, accounting for huge chunks of the urban/rural and education divide that often gets played up. And it's at least partly for that reason. The left wing ideals feel right until you realise their execution has far more unintended consequences than the issues they purport to solve. So most populations shift from significantly left wing at 20 to significantly right wing by 80.

That said what the right wing has become in the US recently, particularly with their steep opposition to free trade and cooperative international relations, is something I could never imagine supporting. So I'm the sort of centre right that would probably be on the left in the US currently, but reluctantly, hoping the right can rediscover their previous values.

What exactly are your political beliefs? I'm curious about how you integrate ancap with ecofascism.

I support capitalism, but I reject western liberal democracy and the level of state control/centralization seen under fascist and communism. I interpret human rights within the framework of property rights.

In regards to ecofascism, I believe the most effective way to combat climate change and the degradation of nature is to reduce demand, ie reduce the population, which currently rests at 8 billion, far from sustainable.

I also think anyone who subjects a animal to needless torment deserves to be brutally executed or put in a concentration camp. It's the worst of all crimes one can commit.

Didn't several authors end up asking their names to be removed before it was even published? There has been tons of controversy behind that book - and many more distinguished scholars and historians have spoken against it - than for it - calling the numbers and statistics used as drastically misleading - and that is just one reason it has been widely frowned upon worldwide.

I don't think that is a reliable source to use to prove any point.

Exactly. They used basically all deaths in any communist led country- no matter the reasoning - to come up with their "100 million" number. It has been talked about for decades and even many of the authors asked for their names to be removed before it was even published due to the massive amounts of misinformation that was in the book. It's hardly an academic resource by any stretch of the imagination.

I honestly have no idea, I feel like a liberal in most aspects but really radically leftist in others, I also have quite a few conservative beliefs as well.

Regardless of the exact numbers, communism (far left) has had a very high death toll.

This was mainly due to starvation in China and the USSR, caused by the radical policies of Mao and Stalin.

However, I would argue that the far right (Nazis, to be specific) would have killed more people if they had not been defeated.
