Im not sure why no one has answered you so far but I would guess they have broken the rules somehow.

People are banned if they reach a warning threshold for breaking rules. Some ask for a ban from the site, many are rule breakers which have been banned a while but threads they started still have activity. Some were permabanned due to trolling.
General bans are for rule breaking though, hope that answers your query on seeing banned accounts. Of course we won't go into detail about specific bans. Thanks.

Agreed with the user above. Some people break the rules a lot and get banned. Some people also asked to be banned. I can think of one user in particular who did that.
