Well, there isn't one yet. So...why not?

Today's my off day, and I like spending time out in nature, so I went hiking in one of the local (tropical rainforest) nature reserves. Thought I'd share some of the pictures I took along the journey.

Does anyone else enjoy being outdoors? Please feel free to share any flora and fauna you find interesting

An abandoned granite quarry (ceased operations in the 90s) that has been rehabilitated into a nature reserve

Went to the same reserve today and there were beautiful flowers in bloom

Happened to be behind the house when I had some company. She trotted right in front of me (about 2m away) before she spied me and took off like a ...fox!

Recently I've been trying to befriend my neighborhood crows. It's been going really well. I feel that they recognize me. Sometimes they walk with me through the small parking lot. I live on the second floor with a large window facing the parking lot. I have found them outside facing us making cute little rattle noises to get my attention.

I first gave them old ends of bread broken up, which they seemed to enjoy. Recently I upgraded to whole peanuts. They really like these. Indeed some of them can be seen making little happy jumping dances before they pick them up. It's so cute. I've seen some stashing them around once they've had their fill.

In this picture you can see how polite they are. They never fight over food and line up patiently.

They most assuredly recognize you. Not only that but, if your friendship goes on with them for a bit, don't be surprised if they start leaving you gifts -- little pebbles, small pieces of glass or shiny metals they find. Take the time to learn to mimic the sounds they make. They will recognize what you are doing and actually stop and what they are doing and make a sound over and over -- in essence "teaching" you the sound. Then, one you put 2 and 2 together and you guys start communicating then the real fun starts. You now have some friends for as long as you will have them. Crows are also loyal. Don't be surprised if they "defend your honor" one of these days from a neighborhood stray.

I also really like being in nature. I love beautiful landscapes, the smell of the forest, birds singing, watching the tree branches sway in the wind. Sometimes I see hedgehogs and squirrels - it's just incredible, they are so cute and small, completely defenseless. Animals are beautiful, I don't want them to suffer. As soon as the sun comes out and if it doesn't rain. I want to go to the pine grove in my city. Say goodbye, wander around there. And remember how we used to walk there. It's so beautiful there. Sometimes a group of artists sits there, fishermen fish. The midges are a bit annoying, but it's not that bad. Water lilies grow there, birdhouses hang and a lot of ducks swim, they catch fish so funny. There is a dam and a bridge over it. A little further there is a railway, a motocross nearby. The forest is huge, but it starts out like a park. I want to get there as soon as possible. The last time I was there was last May, I wanted to throw myself under a train that was going to the capital

Had to move this little guy and a few of his siblings to someplace safe. Saw them nursing with the mom a few days later, so they seem to be doing well. Couldn't get a pic of the lot of them nursing, though, as I could only see it through a bush, and my camera sucks at anything more complicated than the simplest of shots, lol. I've caught toads bigger than this thing, haha

The lotus is one of the most prominent symbols of Buddhism. The Buddha, in his enlightened state, is often portrayed seated upon an open lotus flower. That looks like a really scenic place! I think I watched a YouTube video about this particular section of the river in which it is notorious for having a 100% fatality rate where nobody who has fallen in has ever survived.

More lotus blossoms in the bathtub-shaped planters at the same cafeteria on my way to the gym today. The stall tenants have left for some time already, and now the premises are empty.









Was about to leave when this lil' fella showed up. Heard his little meows and found him sitting on a chair at one of the tables.





Little guy kept rubbing up against my leg so I decided sit down and play with him for a while
