Method Ligature for people with smaller physique?(Partial hanging)

Since most advise against nylon rope, string, fishing wire, shoelace, etc., what is a reliable small diameter ligature for those who are smaller and do not weight much? The neckties that are being recommended are too bulky for my neck.
