How much of a difference do you all think, if indeed any, between wanting to die and not wanting to live?

I think wanting to die implies lots of desperation to leave this world ASAP while not wanting to live, is like doing nothing; having a pointless life and uneventful days.

I think there is an difference. Some people don't want to die, they are driven to suicide by extreme suffering. I think this is the case for example with people with severe tinnitus, many want to live and they mourn the life they once had but they would rather die than be tortured. They see death as the only option. I just think some other people have no will to live so they want to die.
