I've been suffering a deep bipolar depression episode for months which is what led me to this site. My meds haven't been working. My psych ordered a very new med for bipolar depression called Caplyta that I am hoping to pick up sometime today, they don't even carry it at my pharmacy and said they had to place an order for it yesterday.

Fingers crossed, but if this doesn't work, I just don't have the energy to continue bouncing around meds anymore.

Just picked it up. Supposed to take it after dinner due to its sedating effects. Psych actually recommended to take it 12 hours before I plan to wake up the next day, which leads me to believe it'll be very sedating lol. Will take it around 8pm today while I'm leaving my friend's house since I don't have to be up super early tomorrow.

Well, it's been 3 days of taking it..

And I think it's working?!

I actually feel good today. I take it at night because it does make me drowsy, but my ADHD meds help with getting me up in the morning.

I don't feel doom & gloom right now. I do feel a little anxious, but that's normal for me. But I feel like a weight has been lifting off my shoulders. Hopefully it keeps going in this direction - it's only been 3 days!!

That's awesome. I'm so glad the new med is working for you. Bipolar is so difficult to live with. I had an ex with bipolar (to which I've been awful in the end I've betrayed her) so I saw the effects of being bed ridden, drinking a lot of water and not having energy. But she also told me.some stories which I now realize they were unhealthy and did some with me (for which I hurt her 😕).

I hope you're able to manage your illness and engage in healthy behaviors. 🙂

Update: still seems to be working fairly well. I do still seem to crash in the evenings and get suicidal then. Even though I feel better, suicide still feels like the most logical option. I still struggle with lows and highs during the day and it is utterly exhausting. I just want to not suffer at all.

So sorry to hear you're encountering crashes in the evening. It's understandable that when we're constantly overwhelmed we might resort to suicide as a choice to end the pain. Is there any medication that worked for you in the past or that might work for you now that will complement the current one to also make evenings more bearable?
