Was reading about the connection between high altitudes and high suicide rates/mental health issues. I've had a depressive nature since I was about ten (probably a bit earlier tbh but it got bad consistently around ten) and suicidal ideation since I was about thirteen. However, I moved to a place about 5,000 miles higher than anywhere else I've ever lived and the drop in my mental state and ability to cope suffered more than it ever has before.

Anyone else have experience with mental health declines before/after high altitude moves? Or anything similar?

I live in Utah by the mountains and it's considered high altitude. I have heard some studies say it can contribute to depression. I haven't lived anywhere else so I can't compare

Hmm, interesting. Why do they think that is? Lower oxygen or something?

But no, I doubt I've ever lived more than a few hundred feet above sea level.
