My parents have always told me that suicide was selfish. I come from a good family, I've always been treated well by them. I love them, they're good to me. I'm not stressed out, I just sit at home playing video games all day being lazy. The reason I want to go is because of mental health. It is crippling. Everything I try to make it better makes it worse. My family loves me and says suicide is selfish. I don't want my passing to hurt them, though it will. Do you guys think its selfish?
Also, I'd ctb in their home, which I think is a douche move, but I don't have many other options. I could find a nice forested area I guess, but that still doesn't seem likely.
Do you think its selfish of me to ctb in their home? Do you think my reasons are selfish? Do you think its selfish of me to leave such a good family?

What have you tried to address your mental health issues?

Everything. Some things help a bit, but nothing alleviates the problem. I'm sick of it. I have OCD, a tic disorder, manic depression, and I know I'm somewhere on the autism spectrum. Shit sucks. I'm done. I've had it. I just find no light in my life, I have no desire to be here in any way. I'm sick of how I perceive the world, I'm sick of being me.

Then my personal opinion is that it's not selfish - if you feel like you've left every stone unturned which it sounds like you have. I'm sorry you're in this position.

So if you consider other people, I suppose the answer must be no. For a start, you asked this question.

Edit: and I dont really think CBT exactly fits into the "personal profit or pleasure" category either

I find this really relatable, the manic depression and especially ocd can be totally crippling. i have other issues that make me want to ctb even more but those issues really exacerbate them. i'm sure your family will be heartbroken, you can take that into consideration. i think sometimes in life we have to be a little bit selfish and just weigh the damage and do what we can to minimize that. i'm sorry you're in a such a dark place.

I think anyone who asks themselves any if the questions you have, they're not selfish. And even if they don't consider others at all, the fact that they want to die makes it kind of irrelevant if you know what I mean....

No it's not selfish, but if they are such a great family and you could tell them anything and fully trusted them you probably wouldn't feel the need to hide that you are seriously suffering and contemplating ctb right? I don't mean to come of sounding insensitive, just curious.

From my own perspective, I think suicide is selfish. I'm aware of how much I am going to hurt my family. But at some point, the guilt I feel for my selfishness is outweighed by my desire for peace. I can't say suicide is a nice thing to do, it's a decision you make for your own reasons. It might be selfish, but does it matter?

We all die and cause suffering eventyaally. Should it really be considered selfish? Maybe neutral instead? In some cultures it can/has been positive,mi think. It might even be healthier and less destructive, even the opposite., who knows.

I think we're all massively, massively selfish for being at this point. It doesn't mean we shouldn't be at this point, though. There's no value judgement behind "selfish." You're selfish. Big whoop. Go be selfish.

"Selfish" doesn't have to possess a negative connotation. Sometimes, you've just got to do you.
I wish I could believe that. Edit: but I'm not judging, sorry

I wouldn't say it was selfish, it's a symptom, of a long chronic disease, that ultimately plays a massive part in how you live your life. But I wouldn't do it at home, especially if you have great parents. Will mess them up. I have no guilt at all with my parents, they contributed in some way to my demise. But I still love them.
