Is successful carbon monoxide poisoning possible in an 1100 sqft room?

I've heard that you're supposed to wait for the flames to go out before brining the coal inside to do its thing.

That's not small. Really you need to measure it for cubic feet. Sure it's possible. Might take a lot of charcoal. How will you know how much to use? Not a good idea to just guess.

Why make it more difficult for yourself? You could easily set up in the same room, in day a much smaller tent.

Yeah, there are houses smaller than that, I'd think you'd need a lot of coal. Or go with a small tent.

I don't know the math on this. I suppose you can fill up any size room so long as you have the coals and you can prevent leaks. Putting a smaller enclosure like a tent in that room would probably help. It would be hard to know if you reach the level needed without measuring CO levels though. If you pass out and levels are insufficient, you could wake up with brain damage.

I will point out that yes you want to burn the coals to an illuminated grey then bring it in your space. If you are in that same space as it is burning, it will be quite harsh to inhale. (If I could handle that toxic smoke, I'd just fire up my portable gas generator as that thing could fill a room much faster than a grill could).

This is a method I've considered myself, but I wouldn't feel comfortable without having a CO meter. I don't want to wake up a drooling mess. Even at that, there doesn't seem to be a fixed level of CO. I've seen anywhere from a 1000ppm to 10000ppm. Supposedly, at 10000ppm, you'd drop in seconds. I don't know if coals could hit those numbers in a room. It has to be a sustained CO level also, because even after you pass out it will take extra time before your brain shuts down the show.
