Discussion Is it true that you can commit suicide just by biting your tongue?

I've heard a few times in movies or series that when a character is bedridden and can't use their arms or legs, they might commit suicide by cutting out their tongue. Is this true or completely false?

I didn't know but a quick search turned out that, no, that's very unlikely.

From bacteria and infections? Probably, but from bleeding alone I don't think so?

I think it depends on anatomy or your veins as I have heard -I don't know if this is true or not- some piercers refuse people tongue piercings if they think you will bleed out and die based on your anatomy or veins beneath the tongue ?

But from a quick search it says the tongue piercing deaths are rare and are usually from infections

edit: also heard that maybe this can happen during a seizure as in death from biting and then swallowing and chocking or suffocating to death on your own tongue

I guess Maybe it's possible, But certainly not anything I would try or be confident in doing.
