I considered to become a journalist in the past. I think though working is extremely bad for my mental health. I feel way better 2 years after quitting college. I was extremely burned out and a car wreck. I almost killed myself in the aftermath. My resting pulse is still around 100.

I like to post on here. And I think the reason is I don't have to good in it. There is no pressure, no one who calls me out (usually), I am accepted being just me. There is no performance pressure. I am extremely sensitive to external pressure.

Recently, I read a text on the impact of AI chatbots on journalism. AI is a competitor in the market. Though, many people are sceptical of the quality and trustworthiness of AI. Journalism in under pressure while at the same time they have a unique selling point the AI chatbots don't have. It is trustworthiness. However, traditional media isn't trusted either by many. Many people subscribe to a newspaper that just represents their own world view. But even more people only consume news over social media. I am not sure how they bypass paywalls though. A small minority might pay. But the vast majority probably consumes free news. Which is often worse than paying for higher quality. It is comparable to listen to the politicial takes of someone on a suicide forum. A total waste of time. I am not saying traditional media was always perfect. I think traditional media and independent media can complement each other. Interestingly, substack attracts more and more attention. I like reading Slavoj Zizek substack posts maybe I should read more posts from Douglas Rushkoff. If you have good leftwing recommendations for substack please share them. Substack seems to be sort of unique because it bypasses the censorship of traditional media. At the same time right-wing reactionaries like Curtis Yarvin use the platform to reach a larger audience. Similar to Youtube there are many niche creators. On Youtube there are some educational gems that barely gained traffic. Currently, I am watching a German lecture on modern poliitical theory and it has like 900 views despite the fact it is really really good. I could imagine on Substack there is more pressure to earn money with the texts (which lead to echo chambers and audience capture). On Youtube some creators just share already produced content for a larger crowd.

Back to the topic. On substack you can directly go to a writer you trust, read sometimes free texts of him and then support him with money to get access to all articles he/she posts. There are not many traditional news outlets I fully trust. Most of them have an agenda, have to operate within a system that disincentivizes them from reporting the truth. They are reliant on ad money, sponsorships, potentially the influence of owners, maintaining a good relation to politicians in order to get interviews and access to exclusive stories. Many outlets decide to be part of a team. For larger news outlets this seems to be the best business model. My personal favorite outlet is "Die Blätter". A leftwing journal with diverse content. But I really like the publicist and I trust this outlet more than most media companies. But Die Blätter are not nearly as popular as most mainstream outlets in Germany. Especially, now when the zeitgeist favors righ-wing content. Though, I read economically they are doing well probably because the outlet dissects the right-wing smoke guns that most other outlets fall for.

I have a friend who really enjoys to travel. And he regularly spends a fortune on it. Though, he was sceptical of spending 50 bucks a year for a newspaper subscription. I can see where he is coming from. But usually he read free news articles and most of the time it is just what the news agencies report with no increased real value. It seemed for me to be a waste of time. I think the reports of the news agencies have a value but the analysis of free articles is often a joke. Moreover, he criticized the depth of media articles. Of course most articles with more depth are behind paywalls. At the same time most article in newspapers are quite sohrt compared to the length of some internet videos.

Personally, I think noone would want to pay for reading my posts. And I can understand that I would not do this either. Hell no. I sometimes wonder why people are actually reading my posts. I think I am good at inventing new thread ideas and the rest of the forum seems to be repetitive. So it is probably the lack of real competitors. And I think I am good at presenting my life as interesting. I think most average people would hate living the life I have As I elaborated in a past post I am most of the time a passvie observer in life. I want to distract people from their problems and I think I am good in that. I am not sure though how exactly (hypothetically) I could make money with that. Writing a book. Lol. It had to be a biography as an autist I am bad at inventing stories. I think I could write an interesting autobiograhpy though. But they would start boycotting me when I would spill the tea about posting on here. I feel good not having to bet on this. Because personally I would not like to sell my writing. My societal and politicial analyses don't come close to any scholar or person with a master degree. Okay I met some master students and they were not that impressive. But I didn't meet many of them. I think as a writer you have to develop a connection to your readers. And on SaSu that's sometimes pity or a lack of alternative content. I wouldn't feel good at moniterizing this. It would corrupt my writing on here. Though, if there is an ad deal in the future and Amazon, Facebook, openAI want to give quadrilions of dollars to this forum in order to show ads on here. Sign me up for the deal. Everyone who subscribes to my channel will get a 20% discount on the first Amazon order (*order must be over 150 Euros). I think though one reason why people like to read texts on here is the reason that the people on here are genuine. And if money plays a role things become easily sketchy. None of us earns money by posting on here (if someone does please give me a hint how...asking for a friend).

On Amazon you can publicize your own books. And many just let AI chatbot write books and sell them as their own. And most of them have a really medicore quality. The best type of books are probably where factual errors don't matter like fantasy books for children. I cannot imagine yet that journalists fully get replaced by AI chatbots. As long as hallucinations are an issue and AI cannot do investigative research. Moreover, would AI actually report on a story that goes against their own billionaire owners or their friends?
