is cutting your throat really that bad of a non-method??

im thinking about it, really ive been mulling over various methods i have at my disposal (rope, train, pretty much thats it if i could buy SN i would)
rope - well, only can do it in our backyard and um. afraid of the sight traumatizing my parents even more
train - neck on track so ill probably end up mangled and i don't want to traumatize the driver or anyone finding my body

and i have been fantasizing about cutting my throat today. preferably walk far away from home with a sharpened knife (same knife i once accidentally cut my arm open, it was sharpened and with any other tool at most i would have only made a scratch) and do it in a secluded spot.

id bring my letters with myself and schedule a message to the police with my exact coordinates and instructions (if i go out this way i will leave a letter for the police as well, detailing my method my reason what to do with the letters etc) and have it sent 12-16 hours after my death (if i go late at night the message should be sent in the afternoon) so i don't become a missing person and im found only once im dead. would be peaceful to go out like that, in a secluded area close to a small river and the forest.

i know its unreliable as a method but surely if i have a knife sharp enough and i apply enough pressure at the right place (carotid artery) it should work? even if i just bleed out slowly no?

I saw videos of people trying to slit their throat with a sharp knife, but it didn't go so well. They couldn't even cut properly

There are a few problems with this method:
1. You have to end up cutting through a lot to get to your carotid arteries. We are talking critical muscles, tendons, and nerves. If you survive, you could end up with permanent injuries that could lead to significant pain, loss of motion, and partial paralysis. Most people do not have the surgical precision skill to hit exactly where they need to, especially on their own neck, so anyone who attempts this is going to do some major damage.
2. Related to the above if you do not cut yourself correctly you could still live. If you only nick the carotid artery, there is a chance that it could still clot off. Also, bleeding out slowly, gives way more time for SI to kick in and you to try to save yourself.
3. It is incredibly difficult to actually stab yourself. The biggest reason this is labeled as a non-method is most people just cannot bring themselves to do it.

Like many other non-methods, can you technically kill yourself this way? Absolutely. However, the chances of the average person successfully doing it are very low, which is why it is not recommended to attempt.

It was my first thought too. The issue people talk about is that it requires a lot of will, and it takes a lot of time if you don't get to the arteries. It's not impossible but committing is key it seems.
And making sure that NOBODY finds you. If you're lucky enough to get the right spot though you will accomplish the deed, and will pass out fast. The problem is that people think a common knife will do the trick, but it's a matter of proper equipment here too. A kitchen knife isn't enough, just saying.
But it is risky and depending on what you do, for the people who don't want to feel pain and are afraid, it's a no go. But if one is capable of committing to it, it will take time and will be painful if you're not lucky.
If you are lucky and know what you're doing, then it's actually fast.
