My parents aren't abusive but I do hold a grudge against my ex-stepmother and my dad's ex-girlfriend for abusing him. My dad's ex even had the audacity to go around and lie about him beating her up despite it being the other way around, nearly turning a whole bunch of people against my dad. I hate them and will never forgive them for what they did to him, though I would at least be happy if they changed for the better.

even if that change isn't necessarily because of what they caused to you?
Forgiveness isn't about them it's about you. Just because you choose to forgive someone doesn't mean you forget or that what they did was ok
