I've been dealing with chronic pain for the past few years and to be honest I'm kinda over living. But anytime I mention anything about assisted dying or killing everyone acts like I'm insane for not wanting to live for another 50 years. I don't have anything to look forward to and I've had enough of life as it is. I just don't get why nobody even tries to understand.

why nobody even tries to understand.
Oversimplifying it a bit but generally speaking, empathy is dead. People lost ability and will to "walk a mile in someone else's shoes". They can't and don't want to even try to understand what are you going through. Plus, death, especially the one by your own hand or by your own decision was always a taboo and difficult topic. People don't like difficult.

It should be legal. That's it. It's no more complicated than that.

It should be no different than putting a pet down. We don't do it with humans we act like we're so much more important.

But we're stuck because there's a problem, when you're not in this life, it is impossible to understand. I was here 14 years ago. I then got extremely lucky to land the best job I ever had. And I forgot. I forgot what this was like and I turned my back on it.

Now my world has crumbled and it's so clear that we should have this option.

I really understand as I just always find it so torturous to exist and all I want is to permanently cease existing and never suffer ever again, I see so much cruelty in how everything is so anti-suicide with the suffering and torture of existing seen as to force and prolong no matter what, denying the option of painless ways to cease existing is such horrific cruelty to me.

I always suffer so unbearably from being trapped in this torturous, deeply undesirable existence, I really understand just wanting to be gone, I'd never wish to exist at all, it's just so terrible to me how humans impose this existence onto others in the first place that just causes all this harm and suffering with no limit as to how much one can suffer yet do all they can to make it so others are tortured in this existence for as long as possible.

All it takes is one year, probably less, of consistent pain and anyone will begin to at least see the appeal of death.

The people who have ingrained this belief that suicide is bad are usually the people who do not acknowledge the individual should have a choice in life or death, yet they are the same people that have no problem choosing to birth new life onto this planet, hence the self-contradiction.

Precisely. I can't even bare the thought of having to be alive a year from now, let alone 50-60. I might just have to speedrun death by picking up as many negative habits as possible.

I just can't believe that painless, sure death is unavailable. A lot of people need it. You should be able to tap out when things get too bad.

Good deal less. Most people don't realize what constant pain/suffering is. No break. No relief.

Exactly. Ironically there's more humanity shown for pets then actual humans. If animals suffer it's understandable to put them to sleep, but people have to resort to dangerous, degrading or agonizing methods, be afraid of getting caught etc...

I agree! I think that we as a society reached an even lower point once COVID hit. I feel that the period of isolation seemed to undo a majority of the social progression that had come about around 2016-2019. Overall, people seemed more accepting (and happier too, honestly.)
