As someone who is planning to jump off a 15 story building, i have some tips to overcome SI. Unfortunately, some of the tips may be unhelpful and seem redundant as SI is a natural response deep rooted in the mind. Before i die, i'd like to share a bit of tips for you guys struggling with SI. Sorry if you still feel nervous and anxious about dying </3.

  • take benzos such as xanax, alcohol or when you feel calm. This can help stop overthinking and reduce stress

  • Accept that you will feel discomfort and name the feeling. Remind yourself that the painful feeling will pass. Dying is almost always uncomfortable and this is inevitable. Instead of 'I am anxious', distance yourself from feelings by saying 'My body feels anxious, which is a natural response'

  • Break it into smaller steps and make it as simple as possible. Pretend it's a checklist, like a chore that you need to do with a specific timeframe or deadline. For example, say 'in 5 seconds, i will do X. Then, I will do Y.' The more complicated plans have more time to regret, rethink decisions and tend to be less effective unlike hanging or shooting yourself in the head.

  • reframe the outcome and minimize the situation. Think to yourself that it's temporary, manageable and it's okay. Change 'i'm going to die' to 'i'm transitioning from suffering to a nice, long dreamless sleep'. convince yourself 'it's just a small opportunity for myself where i can be at peace'. For me, I half heartedly convinced myself that while jumping, i will land on something soft and safe, which tricks my mind and reduces anxiety. I also look up at the sky and avoid looking down below to reduce vertigo. You can try to trick yourself into thinking it's something normal and not a big deal.

  • Push through the anxious feelings the same way you endure mental suffering everyday. Use the mental pain as motivation and remember all the times where you suffered, yet continued.

  • slowly expose yourself to the situation or mentally rehearse. Practice makes perfect! For instance, practice partial hanging and get used to the sensation of the noose tightening around your neck, or the feeling of hesitation when stepping off the ladder. Break it into small steps and imagine the sensation and feelings of doing it. This will help desensitize yourself and mentally prepare.

  • watch videos of people dying. I know it sounds terrible, but i watch videos of people committing suicide to desensitize myself. You are able to see the process and the aftermath of each method, and understand the bodily functions as death occurs.

  • imagine the result. Imagine the feeling of non existence, before birth. All your thoughts and painful feelings are finally silenced. "I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it"

  • make sure your plan is absolutely foolproof and that there is no backing out. Make sure you have the correct dosage of SN, you're alone, the rope is sturdy, etc. This will ensure you're confident and prevent overthinking, as you know you won't suffer brain damage or other consequences.

  • accept that you will miss out on something when you're dead. You may miss your favourite show, food, friends, family, etc. Weigh your options and decide if this is really worth continuing to live for. "I will do this before I die" will always continue as long as you find something new to obsess over.
Remember, think less and do more. It's going to be uncomfortable, but it's only temporary.

One thing abt benzos and alcohol in general. Overdosing by a lot, or mixing the two can make the effects on the body a bit unpredictable. If you're new to benzos, search for an appropriate dosage on a website like tripsit or psychonaut

Benzos have the tendency to make you stupid and uncoordinated at high doses(it increases risk of falling for elderly patients for instance) so do be careful :)

This is a great list by the way, I have a thing to add as well! Pretend it's temporary, like you're going to come back after doing whatever it is you're doing. Sure, it's just being hanged. Whatever. You're only doing it the once. Hit by a train? Who cares. You'll go and grab a coffee afterwards. (It tricks the mind into thinking it isn't serious).
