I did everything I was supposed to. I studied hard in high school and went to university and graduated with a bachelor's of science. I have a gf and my parents are proud of me for my academic achievements. But I didn't go to graduate school. I can't find a job. I'm going to be stuck in debt because what I did is only what what got you ahead 25 years ago, and what our generation that has kids says will put their kids in the same behind situation I'm in: destitution, anxiety, and despair. Getting ahead is always a race and I wasn't unlucky, just normal. Unblessed with parents of normal foresight, normal judgement. My graduation party is tomorrow, and I don't wanna do it. I wish my life's destitution was already simpler and I had dropped out. I'd have more excuses to just jump ship, but I also know it's coming because I can't find work and it's scary to think about having nothing. Ah well.

I felt this in my soul. Sometimes being more educated is worse.

It's SO frustrating that college isn't even a viable pathway to a good job these days. I'm also pursuing a STEM degree and I feel the weight of masters school on my shoulders too. All this effort, this pain, for what? To be unemployed with a degree that was supposed to give us a better shot at life. I feel for you, and I hope life treats you kinder soon. And congrats on graduating !

At this point I'm considering just ditching my resume and pretending like I dropped out of high school or something to look for ex-felon ass jobs like line cook and janitorial work

Idk if it'll make you feel any better but all the internships and research opportunities I applied for as an undergrad I got rejected from despite having stellar grades. My attempts at networking just didn't work out because I was much poorer than everyone around me. Then I applied for my master's and they rejected me for not having enough internship or work experience...

Give graduate school your all if you can for me, it truly is a blessing in some ways to end up there.

Wait a minute.......you just graduated ("My graduation party is tomorrow") and you're ALREADY kissing off your prospects of finding a job? Something doesn't quite add up here. 🤔

The party was later than the actual graduation and I'm still hopeful, but doesn't change the fact that the search is difficult though.

Does your uni not offer employment placement assistance?
