Being set on fire is considered one of the most excruciatingly painful ways to die. It's ultimately your choice, but I would recommend pretty much any other method over that one.

I'm sorry but I'm fairly certain that this is one of if not the most torturous method out there. Moreover with some quick and maybe faulty research it also seems to have a shockingly low success rate. I wouldn't attempt it

Unless you have god tier levels of self control, like those Buddhist monks who doused themselves in gasoline during the VN war and did not even wince as they were burning (hint: their consciousness had already left their body) - you most likely do anything possible to save yourself, ie SI will kick in.

And as sheepskin said, surprisingly, it does fail a lot. Modern medicine and trauma surgeons are incredibly good at what they do these days. If you did survive, you are facing years of excruciating skin grafts.

I would not recommend this. In fact, this would probably be the absolute last method I'd ever suggest to someone.

I would definitely take some time to think this through.

I would consider what the after-effects could be if you failed. your body will be covered in burn marks/keloids, you might be restricted in motion, not be able to eat, need expensive surgery, lose your sense of feel, go blind, etc etc. I understand the appeal for proving a point to others, but in the same breath, I think you would end up worse than you started. I remember the man who set himself ablaze in front of a US gov building in support of palestine, but many people don't remember him and his cause. I think there are better ways to say "fuck life, I'm out" w/o this method. also, if the goal is to prove a point, if you failed, people would look down even further on you. if you decide on this method, you're very strong. I, for one, am way too pussy to go through with it. good luck dude, I wish you peace in life or death.

Supposedly the monk that burned himself was heavy on opioid.

Don't do it. It's one of the most painful ways to die. Avoid it if possible.

The cartels sometimes put a tire over a person and burn them alive. Watch those videos on gore sites and listen to the shouting of the victims. This should change your mind.

It's so dreadful and horrible to me how the option of peaceful ways to cease existing are so cruelly denied, I hope you find freedom from suffering.

I have seriously considered this option as well. I'm in Australia and I don't have many options at all for CTB. Assuming the self-immolation is effective, sure I will be in agony, but it'll probably only be for one minute... and then I should be gone. Maybe I just need to grin and bear it?

Though I think there are better alternatives, and I'm also considering these too. Maybe smoke inhalation? Try setting two barbecues alight in an enclosed room and just breathing in the smoke until you pass out. I'm sure that would be a less painful way to go.

Says you! I constantly remember Aaron Bushnell, I have one of those patron saint candles with him on it and have a book on him from GenderFail. His name gets invoked a lot at the poetry readings I go to as well. I believe there is a street in Jericho, Palestine, named after him too. It's people and spaces that don't talk about Palestine that don't remember his name. Maybe it's because of my location, but we honor our martyrs here.

None of this to say that you should go for it, 30LoverForever. This is a separate topic. In the end it's your choice, but I echo what others in this post have said and recommend you don't do it.

Opioids wouldn't do anything for that kind of pain.

There would be nothing you could take that would break through that kind of acute pain. You would need to be unconscious.

Even in the progressive state I reside in, nothing is mentioned of him. I'm thankful at least one person recalls the kind soul he really was. I hope eventually he will have something in our future to be proud of. To be quite frank, I've heard absolutely nothing about him or anything that has resulted since he passed- partially my fault, but also a lack of publicity on information that DESPERATELY needs it these days. I could go on. I'm glad to hear something about him after so long, thank you for this.

I would imagine that would set off something in the brain, right? As that Chinese dude said.. hanging is pretty much a perfect suicide attempt. I personally would opt for some variation of hanging, but I don't live in Australia, so…

Oh gosh no. You would suffer too much, you will regret every second and if you survive you will be severely disabled.. Reflect well

A lot of people jumped from the WTC to avoid being burned to death. I think this says a lot about how the heat must have felt felt to them.
