Dont know how true this might be. But i feel the more and more industrialized we become and the more people exist, the less value our lives have. Society does not care. Society only wants people that can serve it in someway, but doesnt care abour their wellbeing or happiness. Life was always miserable for humanity. Especially in the past. But I think people back then had smaller more close knit communities where people genuinely cared for one another. Something we are sorely missing.

I think there has always been some sort of disregard for human life in history, first thing i think of is during WW1 (especially trench warfare) & 2 when they would literally send men to run directly into a machine gun to die a needless, senseless death.
I think nowadays due to the internet and the world being connected, we are able to notice the people who go un-noticed or choose not to participate in society or any form of propaganda that promotes evolution and advancement of technology.

Yes, in modern mass societies the social cohesion is ereoded. But on the other hand, population explosion seems to be support by modern societies.

This life has many problems, but human beings are the most important creatures on Earth. You're absolutely right though, because modern societies do not value us much at all. If they did, they wouldn't force people to suffer like this. Our pets get more respect than we do. No one would ever THINK of allowing a dog or a cat to suffer.

We no longer pay that much attention to our health, as we look for having more money, more materialistic things, to the point where we forget about what really matters, what really makes a human - an actual human, which is our mental health and our souls. We are paying all our attention into progress and evolution, to the point where we literally forget about others and ourselves too.
