i was just wondering... i think there's a lot of people who are suicidal, but won't admit it.
that's the impression i get.
and i don't blame them, because admitting you are hypothetically suicidal can get you locked up in the nuthouse,
which will make your life even worse.

i noticed this guy today on a live stream... he was talking about life and stuff,
and he was like almost halfway implying he was suicidal.

he was asked where he was from, and he said something like:
"i don't even know, i was just brought here by my parents,
and now i'm stuck in this shithole... anyone got a ticket??"
and then laughing.

it would probably pass most people by, but to me it sounded like a hint of suicidal desire.

Yeah I have often wondered how many people are at least pondering it, but are afraid to admit it. Personally, I don't give a flying rats petunia who knows (except my family, that's just embarrassing). My give a damn got busted long ago.

i always wonder if people around me or if people i know are suicidal. i analyze what they say and joke about like you do. its probably more than we think. its not really polite or acceptable to just ask if someone if suicidal though.

My housemate and I go to our local grocery store frequently and we have a pretty good rapport with several of the wokers. There is this one guy that I've picked up clues that he definitely thinks about it; although he's never said anything outright. So, the other day, I just outright asked, "I wanna ask you something, you ever think about checking out?". He instantly replied, "Every day". I chuckled and said, "Yeah, I hear ya".

those who aren't ashamed of being suicidal are often scared of the consequences of others knowing. I imagine few people would admit it, though some might "joke" about it.

Like one day he was bent over doing something and I said, "You make a good target", and he said, "Yeah, I'm just waiting for someone to take me out". Lol. But not just the jokes. I could also tell from his demeanor and just the way he talked in general. Poor guy.

Yeah that's a good point. I'm not ashamed of anyone knowing. To me, it's just a natural emotion. But because of that, I'm so afraid I'm gonna slip and say the wrong thing at the wrong time.

Not many would, I think. I mean I wouldn't, so I'm guessing most would also not want to disclose their status. For me it's the fear that they may get in the way with the plan.

So is it that you just don't want anyone to know? Or afraid of what the consequences of them knowing would be?

This is a good point actually. I complain alot that when I try to explain to people who why I want to die, I hear a lot about how everyone is suffering and I'm no different than anyone else in that way, and that I should just get over it. My response to that is that if everyone feels like this more people should be killing themselves - as it turns out, more people than you'd think are one bad day away from actually catching the bus, they're just less vocal

Of all the people who have suicidal thoughts, the amount who are open about them in public with friends and family would be very few. I think that would be the case even for people here.

If I was going to have a complete stab in the dark, I would guess something like:

30% of people have had suicidal thoughts at some point
5% of people have reached serious planning/attempt stages
1% of people are open about it

I guess I've just always been too open of a person. I've pretty much always worn my emotions on my sleeve; and it has gotten me into trouble, many times. And since I don't tend to look at things the way most people do, my thought is, "What's the big deal about being suicidal? If people are that sensitive about it, to heck with 'em". lol I mean, if I make up my mind to do it, ain't nobody gonna stop me; whether they know about it or not.

Although, since I've gotten older and matured, I don't tend to be as open as I used to be about deep things.
